While there are, many varieties of Carpenter Ants (Camponotus pennsylvanicus) and (Camponotus vicinus) are the two most common ones found in the Eugene and surrounding areas. One is the Modoc and is all black in color. The other is Vicinus and it has both red and black body parts in various configurations.
