Welcome to the Suzuki Music Schools, a 501(c)3 non-profit community music school, founded in 1997. We are a member of the National Guild of Community Music Schools of the Arts, a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas and home to the Suzuki Association of Southern New England. We offer instrumental music lessons in violin, harp, viola, cello, guitar, flute, piano, voice, chamber music, music theory, and ensemble to over 400 students.
Founded in 1997, the Suzuki Music Schools have grown from humble beginnings in a church hall to one of the country's largest independant non-profit community music schools dedicated to the teaching of the Suzuki method. Founded by Becki Christopherson, the school occupied the basement of St Paul's Church, Westport, moving several times in its early years.
Students old enough to study an instrument receive both an individual lesson and group class each week. This combination of private lessons and group classes lies at the heart of Dr. Suzuki's philosophy. Private lessons develop a student's personal understanding. Group classes help students share their experiences with others in a fun and non-competitive environment.
Studying music using the Suzuki Method can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do with your child. The Suzuki Method allows you to take part in your child's learning experience to positively influence their education. This is a joyful but intense experience that can fundamentally change your relationship with your child.

My children attend Suzuki and I am more than pleased with what their experience has been: the environment is very welcoming and genuine, the teachers are all very approachable, patient and exceedingly talented. I love that there is a growing community of like-minded thoughtful kids and parents, and not just a weekly visit from a free lance musician issuing practice instructions and watching the clock. Highly recommended.
