This place is my obsession. Nothing beats their Brooklyn Reuben and a bowl of chicken noodle soup with matza ball on a lazy Sunday. No really I do this every Sunday. I wish today was a Sunday. We're New Yorkers and are picky about our bagels, but the bagels here stand up! We got a variety of flavors and tried the egg and cheese sandwich, plain butter as well as the chicken biscuit sandwich.
Service was quick and friendly. The manager was eager to make us happy and gave us a peak at the bagel-making process! Glad we chose this place for breakfast!

Services
Rich in history. Committed to quality. Bagels made the old-fashioned way. Goldberg's Bagel Company & Deli, originally named Goldberg & Son, started in 1972 as a small true father-and-son run Atlanta deli serving six varieties of authentic New York-style boiled bagels and one very popular Po' Boy sandwich.

This non toasted bagel with 2 thin salmon strips and weird egg yolk concotion in a separate to go bowl that the surly kind of rude and not very helpful employees called an "Eggs Benedict" cost $21 when on the menu it said it was $12. It's also not good.. My entire order with this plus a Ceasars salad and regular fountain drink cost around $30. This was my first visit here.. Will never be returning. No receipt given. I think I heard one complaining that I didn't tip. Really? I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone I care about.. It's kinda shady. I rarely give bad reviews. This place earned

We came here around 10am on a Line out the door, popular place. There were a couple of open tables but nobody was being seated. Manager at least came over and said it was going to be a few minutes. It was apparent they were probably understaffed. No big deal...
We did sit down after 20 minutes. Our waiter was friendly. We got drinks quickly.
Table was not clean.
Ordered a bagel sandwich, came out with bacon and cheese. Had to send it back for egg to be added. The egg they added was just one friend egg. Lol Wife and daughters food was ok.
It was an expensive breakfast, and most snobs in this

Call us gluttons. After having a horrible experience a couple of months ago, we thought that maybe time had healed those wounds and gave Goldberg's another shot. NEVER AGAIN!
The food is INEDIBLE! And even worse, nobody gives a darn with the company, not at this location and not at corporate. This was our last experience. Based on what we see and hear, it shouldn't be too long before Avalon has the ability to fill this prime location with a restaurant that actually cares, thinks about customer service, and most importantly serves edible food.
"Fine Foods"?! What a joke!

I just waited 20 minutes in line for a blueberry bagel and some cream cheese Only to never receive it Because they ran out. Not even upset that they ran out, but the fact that I waited and no one bothered to check or even tell me before paying just really wasted my morning. Could’ve had time to get breakfast somewhere else but now I don’t

I think the management at Goldberg's has given up and just doesn't care anymore. They have a sign on their door saying 'during the pandemic please be patient with our servers'. I think that's code for saying 'please overlook the fact that our staff is rude, dismissive, surly, not prompt, and makes no bones about the fact that they don't give a damn'.
I'm generally pleasant and patient with people who care and are trying. What I encountered recently at Goldberg's isn't any of that: simply a server (Dumar) who blatantly doesn't care

For years, I've loved the Goldberg's in Dunwoody. Avalon is much closer to me so I went there recently and was very disappointed. Ordered the New York Style Pastrami for $18.99. That's supposed to be the extra meat version. Complete scam.
Now, if you've been to a deli from Philadelphia north and you go with the "extra meat" pricing, you get like a pound of meat or more ... a great experience. But, Goldberg's idea of "New York Style" - at least at Avalon - was not enough meat to qualify as a normal sandwich. Really, really skimpy on the pastrami

New management horrible
Tables and condiments are dirty.
Outside tables must order Togo.
I ask why is this a new policy he said no I have one waitress.
There is no one here.
I said ok asked for a plain bagel to go waited 14 minutes.
Again no one is here.
I live in Avalon will never be back.
Manager standing in the corner on phone.
Workers no masks.
Gave waitress 10 dollar tip just because I felt bad for the way she was talked to by manager.
Very off putting.
Recommend deep cleaning , new manager, basic masks for cooks/workers.

Originally just wanted to pop in here for a quick grab and go but decided to sit down for a full breakfast. Our server was really nice and helpful. He walked us through the menu, kept us stocked with what we needed and was very friendly.
My wife and I ordered the same thing and we were both pleased with it. The bagels were a good size and while the everything bagel had fennel on it, it still was solid. My wife and I aren't huge fans of fennel and didn't know that was included in their version of everything bagel mix as sometimes it is and sometimes isn't. The cream cheese selections

I went on a Saturday morning at 9 AM and was told that they were short staffed and it would take about 15 or 20 minutes to be seated. Only about 30% of the tables were full. No problem and I of course agreed to wait. After waiting for 30 minutes, I checked back in and told I was still at the top of the list for the next table. Meanwhile lots of people have left but I could see that the restaurant was serving the to go orders before taking in more tables. After waiting for 1 hour I decided to leave. I wish they would've just communicated this to me to begin with and I would have moved

Update 6/13/21
I agree with Bob J's review. This is not a good Goldbergs location. I think I've eaten at most of them over the years, and this location at the Avalon is clearly the worst.
I brought my family to this restaurant on a Sunday, because every other restaurant in the Avalon had a 1+ hour wait. When we entered the restaurant, a female staff member seated us in a booth near the front of the restaurant. We were then ignored for over 10 minutes. Multiple servers walked right past us, and nobody stopped to greet us or take our order.
I then got up and tried to find someone

Very authentic Jewish Deli. I had the Reuben sandwich and it didn't disappoint. I want to try the chicken pot pie bites but they were sold out. Next in my list 8s the chicken noodle soup.
Service was perfect. I ordered online. They have a dedicated online order pickup window. It took no time at all.
Great experience!

Ordered this for pickup when staying at the Avalon hotel...the lox cream cheese was disgusting and the Biscuits and gravy was cold, nor enough gravy...but the worst was the gravy had a weird consistency and didn't even taste good (so I guess it was good they hardly covered the biscuits in jt).
Let me tell you - just drive to exit 12 and go to BB's Bagels. You will not be disappointed. That is where I will be in an hour to purchase a delicious breakfast. BB's wins best of Forsyth year after year and they give you as much cream cheese as they do bagel.

We love their breakfast/brunch! Today we ordered the Brooklyn Rueben (with potato salad), Challah French Toast and Bagel Beignets.
The rueben was well-balanced - right amount of meat, kraut and dressing - with a nice, light rye. As a FYI, it was thick sliced, which we're not sure if that is the standard for Goldberg's, but it can matter to certain individuals. The potato salad was probably Northern style with normal potatoes, no sliced egg.
The beignets, which were to share, were an excellent size and I particularly enjoyed the strawberry slices that came with them. They maybe could

This is not a good Goldbergs location, compared to the other ones I've been to. Also, I'm guessing they just reopened from the coronavirus or something, because the employees all seem very clueless. The employee standing by the take out area had her mask on, and was playing her phone. Then, she put on her mask before taking my order. That kind of defeats the purpose on masks. Either wear them fully, or don't bother wearing them at all. She was very passive aggressive and sassy. Also, she touched her face several times while wearing gloves and did not change gloves between handling

I visited early on a Sunday morning and there weren't many people in yet. I had a super simple order, plain bagel toasted with butter. It took an unusually long time to get the order. That was the down side of the visit. The bagel was tasty fresh and not like a lot of the others in town. The service was good, the employee's pleasant, and the prices reasonable.
There is plenty of free parking in the lot.
Tasty bagel experience!

Goldbergs is OK restaurant. I was in the mood for a Ruben and they do a great job with that. Tried to be healthy and substituted potato salad for french fries. Ruben was huge, but potato salad was tiny (pictured). Both tasted good, which is the important part.
Service here is OK, but other Goldbergs seem to have more attentive staff. The downside here is the place is very noisy. Was looking around and they have nothing to absorb the sound.
This restaurant is located in Avalon, which is really neat shopping mall. Incredible friendly layout of the property and easy stroll between the shops

Quick, good and good values made my visit an enjoyable one. Whether it’s to dine in or take out the choices are many and diverse. I can’t pass the bagel & egg with latkes and apple sauce. The orange juice always feels freshly squeezed. I’m always in and out in less than 20 minutes, although they have no problem if you want to stay longer and enjoy your coffee. Check out the to go casseroles and other prepared dishes.
