Services
If it is a medical emergency please call 911. Our Mission is to provide patient centered care through the empowerment of physicians and other health care givers enhanced by state of the art technology. We are committed to the welfare of the community and will join with other health care providers to responsibly allocate health care resources to meet the needs of our less fortunate citizens.
Grand Central is the core of the hospital. Everything that goes on in the hospital starts in this department. We provide one stop shopping for all patient admitting, scheduling, insurance and discharge needs. The staff works very closely with the physicians, office staff, insurance companies, patients and other hospital departments to ensure that the experience is an efficient and pleasant one for all involved.
Such services are provided by Board certified surgeons and physicians, our anesthesia staff, nurses and Techs. This provides KMC with over 250 years of experience in their specialties. Bringing together staff from multiple backgrounds and experiences allows our KMC Surgery Department the ability to provide expert multi-specialty patient care.
The Radiology Department at the Kansas Medical Center is a highly specialized, full service department which strives to meet all patient and clinician needs in diagnostic imaging and image guided therapies. We utilize Board Certified Interventional Radiologists and are one of very few hospitals that perform RF Ablations.
Cardiovascular Laboratory provides a safe and comfortable environment for both patients and personnel for optimum assistance to the physicians in meeting the emergency, preventative and restorative health needs of the patients. Two cardiac catheterization laboratories help physicians diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.

After waiting 2 months for surgery, we're told to arrive at 5:15 a.m so we leave around 3:30 a.m and arrive and begin check in process to fill out paperwork and then gave drivers license and insurance info. Then 5 minutes til time to sign anesthesia form I'm asked for additional paperwork I didn't have such as court papers and told rudely we'd just have to reschedule which I did, just not at this place. So very incompetent at front desk not to mention extremely rude!

My doctors office sent over an order for a covid test to be done. I call this hospital to see how to check in. They transferred me to 3 different departments for an answer. The admissions office was very rude. They giggled and said they don't do covid test. Really it's an order from doctor's office and your a hospital.
This is the same hospital that Sent my mother home witha broken hip. I would give it a zero if I could. The owner should be ashamed on how patients are treated.

Had a mri 3 weeks ago....still no results to my doctor...when I call they are terribly rude and tell me I need my Dr. To call to get the results....they have several times....no results faxed yet. Workman's comp case so I can't get cleared to return to full duty til my Dr. Gets the results. So I've lost around $600 because they aren't capable of sending a fax...im beyond frustrated! Can't start PT til I get the results either. Ridiculous! Next step is hiring a lawyer.....if I could give zero stars I would.....the lady at the front desk uncomfortably told me all her personal problems.....mri tech

Worst experience ever in the medical industry by far. Rude uncaring nurses, no compassion whatsoever. The response I got from the nurse after my surgery to my complaints of extreme pain was what are going to do about that"? Left me alone in the corner.About 20 minutes later throws my clothes on bed says to get dressed, no assistance at all. I just got out of surgery dressing oneself in such circumstances...really? If you want to be treated badly this is the place. I wouldn't let my dog get a procedure done there.

I had a very unfortunate experience in the ER with rude staff. I don't like being judgmental, especially considering how hard it is to serve the public...but I also don't like being treated poorly by people, medical professionals or otherwise, when I'm already having a rough day. I will not come here for treatment if I can help it.

This hospital almost killed my husband by not doing any education on his diagnosis of diabetes . He was in intensive care for a day and half and then sent home. He was not shown how to check his own glucose readings or how to dose or give his own insulin. He was not given a sliding scale for blood sugar either. He was in a life threatening situation when I took him to the hospital. They stabilized him barely but did not put him on a regular floor out of intensive care where he should have been taught all of the things he needed to know to care for himself. When I brought this up to the Dr he was

My father called me saying he was in so much pain and couldn’t move. The ambulance came and took him here. They told him he had a stomach virus and sent him back to his assisted living home. The next day the assisted living home called and told me they were calling the ambulance because he passed out. They told me they were sending him to Wesley. Thank God they did because he had sepsis. Wesley made the diagnosis. Kansas Medical sent my father back home septic. He almost died! I will drive out of Andover to Wesley for my family’s emergency care. Terrible this place sent my father home to die

I have never in my life been treated so well by any group of humans ever! From the Er, where I started my journey, to the operation room and ICU, where I was discharged, I was more than just a lil impressed at the staff and their wonderful attitudes! Great care as well!

A trip to the ER is so easy here! There was no wait. It is a small hospital with 4 ER rooms, but when a teen has anaphylaxis and forgot their epi pen it is the perfect hospital. We saw a dr and put nurse quickly, meds were pushed quickly and 4 short hours later we went home (4 hours is required for observation) paperwork was brought quickly so ER could discharge at the 4 hour mark. There are 2 vending machines close by with bottles coffee, ice tea and snacks. They take cash or charge. Everything was clean in good repair

I wouldn't even give his hospital a 1 rating. My sweet niece was brought there Monday into Tuesday morning around 2am. She had fallen on the porch and could not put ANY pressure on her leg.. we live in Andover so we somehow managed to get her into the truck and head over to kmc. A decision I, or my family will EVER make again. For 1..no temperature tests were taken! Not once! During a pandemic?!?!? 2..we sat in a room for an hour before seeing anyone. 3...for a 12 year old who CANNOT WALK!!!!!! they threw a splint on her and called it good...4..she gets wheeled to the truck and the nurse DIDNT

So my vacation turned out to be at a lovely little resort that serves only low fat food and requires a lot of fasting. No massages but endless acupuncture. It's very quiet and allows no visitors. View is nothing to brag about either. Lots of solitude with regular check ups around the clock though.

They can keep the acupuncture, I'm a bit tired of it. (I'm about to be on my 3rd IV with many failed attempts in between.).

Lots of fun tests with no results, or maybe they are saving that briefing for my departure. One more night, they insisted, so I get to enjoy their Kansas

My 90 year old mother had surgery at Andover Hospital in 2018. The worst hospital I've ever had the misfortune to be apart of primarily because I was taking care of my mother at this facility. They were completely understaffed and the nurses who were there, with a couple of exceptions, really seemed like they didn't give a damn. I could tell the morale of the staff was very low!! it was a beautiful hospital but if I hadn't been there helping to take care of my mother I dread to think of the type of care she would have received! The only reason we ended up at Andover Hospital was

My husband went to the emergency room in December 2017. Somehow they coded the visit as you workers comp visit and I am still trying to get it straightened out. I have called or wrote notes to billing on 5 occasions about the error. Just got a letter from my insurance company asking about a worker comp claim and a collection letter for the hospital. Gee!

I had a procedure done this morning at KMC. I would highly recommend this hospital, I was treated very good.
Every person went out of their way to be sure we were taken care of properly.
Special recognition for Pre-opp/ Recovery!!
Melanie was so caring and professional, as well as all the other nurses, they all made sure my stay was 100% positive. I will request this hospital again, if I need to be hospitalized again.

It is currently 9:15 am and my grandfather has been here since 3pm yesterday with a broken hip (in two places).

We have not seen the doctor and the nursing staff is unable to let us know when that will occur. The first response we received (yesterday) was, "he may be in Sunday morning or it might be Monday".

This morning when we asked the RN if she knew when he might see the doctor she said she had no idea and literally walked out as she said it b/c she was frustrated with something concerning her computer system. The family looked at each other in astonishment that she did that

I had surgery here with the robot. They took great care of me. Joked around and made me feel at ease, clear up to the time I went under.
The recovery is semi private. Curtains between us, but you get to hear the patient and conversation with doctors. I didn't care. I was ready to go.

Today, I'm here to visit. The hallways are like a big maze. We visited the last room at the dead end. Oops! Wrong dead end! Turned around, back to another short Hall. Nurses have little stations in each Hall, big station at mouth of a fourway. About typical of most hospitals. Photos of animals and birds

My mother is in Kansas Medical Center's care. The nurses are mean to her, they forget about her for hours (the Doctor prescribed antibiotics for her and it took them 12 hours to get them to her), the forget to put her IV back in, and they won't share any information with us.

Beware of this establishment. I am going to shout from all of social media how horrid this place is.
