For over forty years, the talented and highly trained team of orthopedic surgeons at Abilene Bone & Joint have been providing medical care for all ages in the West Texas community. Our main goal in treating orthopedic problems is restoring our patients active lifestyle - be that competitive collegiate sports or simply walking the neighborhood.
Services
In 1997, Dr. Cooke settled in Abilene and started private practice in orthopedic surgery, joining Dr. Holloway at Abilene Bone & Joint. He is currently serving as the Head Orthopedic Physician for Abilene High School. Dr. Cooke finds it fulfilling to treat patients and their families over their lifetime with a focus on maintaining a full continuum of care.
We are contracted with most major health insurance carriers. Please contact your health insurance carrier to confirm we are in-network and contracted for your specific plan. You may also contact our office with any additional questions. For patients without insurance we offer payment options for initial consultation as well as payment plans via CareCredit.
The Abilene Bone and Joint team is involved in the Abilene area community via events, sponsorships and various activities. We pride ourselves in not only serving the Big Country, but being a member of these communities, too. Ladainian Diaz, a Cooper High School football standout, hasn't been sidelined since his injury.
We love to hear from our patients! It's a help for new patients, and those facing a surgery, to read comments from our patients about their successful experience. Cooke performed surgery on my right shoulder four years ago and it is doing great! I recently started having the same pain in my left shoulder and Dr. Cooke did surgery on it about a month ago.

The most unprofessional staff. The receptionist doesn't wear a mask in a medical facility where everyone's instructed to. An Office Manager berates him in front of patients a d visitors for a cash handling mishap the day prior and makes patients wait to be checked in. Others are not professionally dressed and are chomping on gum and gossiping. Doesn't set high expectations for good care. Then 45 minutes later, checked into a room area where there are cobwebs attached to the bottom of the exam table! Then 20 minutes later a Physician Assistant comes to check on patient instead of doctor.....this

Dr. Sagar has been outstanding! My wife had a very serious injury to her wrist along with a chipped elbow.
The skill and professionalism we have experienced from Dr Sagar and his staff is why I am taking the time to post this. Since we needed a surgeon it was important to me that the Dr was a good communicator and appeared confident in the mechanical aspects of the job. He has exceeded my expectations and I recommend him without reservation. Dr. Sagar is from the Odessa area which I think gives him a leg up on some while communicating with other West Texans.

I want to say that the staff and doctors and the physician assistants at the Bone and Joint clinic are amazing! They not only are caring but they listen and answer your questions. They go out of their way to make sure that all your questions are answered and if they don't have the answer they go to someone that does! I am very happy with the procedure that I had and I highly recommend DR. Cooke and Jay McCoy .. I couldn't be doing as well as I am doing without them!

They are great at both the Northside and Southside locations! My 5 y/o son broke his first bone and had to be in a cast. Throughout the whole process they explained everything to me and to him. The cast guys are fantastic and orient their words towards the kids. I highly recommend using Abilene Bone and Joint!

Breaks and fractures in my lower leg and ankle led to surgery with Dr. Shannon Cooke. He is a superior doctor. During multiple follow up visits I routinely saw his PA who is also excellent and was very patient with all of our questions and whom I had no problem seeing instead of Dr. Cooke. We would typically wait 30 minutes past appointment time and that is problematic when missing work. But the quality of care cannot be beaten.

The doctors and other caregivers are amazing. However, they do not keep a very close eye on schedules. Plan on waiting for an hour or more to be seen. Happened when my daughter broke her arm and was being seen and has happened when I needed to have my foot and ankle seen. They could call you and say they are behind, but they do not give you this courtesy.

The wait time was not long at all and the atmosphere was homey. The other people there waiting were very friendly as well. DR Britten is amazing! He remembered me from being there 6 years ago and why I had been there Talk about impressed. I overheard one lady who had been down in another state and fell and her husband came a shot her to bring her to Dr. Britten. He his very honest and upfront and LISTENS to what you have to say. Great customer care and concern.
