Heartstone Winery
We followed our hearts and proudly opened Heartstone Farm and Winery's family-owned and operated doors in 2017. We are proud to make locally hand-crafted wines while committing to environmental protection and sustainable agriculture. Walt, Nancy, and our faithful Australian cattle dog Rupert would love to meet and share our wine with you, your family, and friends!

Our wine list consists of a wide selection of wines for any occasion, hand-crafted from grapes grown right here on the farm. From our vineyard to your glass, thank you for being a part of our story. Heartstone's winery rests upon 56 rolling acres in scenic Columbia, Connecticut. Come relax on the patio overlooking the lush vineyard while enjoying a glass, bottle, or tasting of our fine wines.
Services
We have grown berries, harvested hay, and raised organic, grass-fed beef on Heartstone Farm for decades. In 2008, we expanded an additional 56 acres to pursue our dream of hand-crafting wine from grapes grown right here on the farm. Atop one of the highest points in Columbia, we planted six cold hardy varietals to craft our wines.
We offer a cheese plate, often host food trucks, and encourage you to bring your own food. Please check out schedule for more information. As you can probably guess, we love dogs! Unfortunately, we cannot host your furry friend for the sake and comfort of all our guests. But please feel free to say hello to our Australian cattle dog Rupert when you are here!

My husband and I visited this beautiful vineyard last month and enjoyed it. However, we wanted to taste the Petit Syrah that they offer for $38 per bottle and were told it was unavailable for tasting. Against our better judgment we purchased the bottle for home. It was absolutely not drinkable. Very acidic and bitter. I sent an email and it was completely ignored and unanswered. We will not return.

They should really advertise on their website that they will be closed during their normal operating hours. Drove 45 minutes to check this place out and it was closed for a private event. No notices posted anywhere to let us know this information. First and last time we will be trying to check this place out.

The first time I came here I was under impressed. The building was very new and very stark. There was no warmth and no decoration. There was no color and no design to it. It was pretty much just wood. So I thought well they just built it so they will be adding to it and I was right.

This time we went in we sat out in the patio which is beautiful and the grapevines were beautiful. Everything had grown up so much since I had been a couple of years ago. We sat out on the patio and were served our tastings by a lovely young woman who was very knowledgeable and very sociable.

This time I really

I absolutely love this winery! They have beautiful outdoor seating but also plenty of indoor tables. Their wines are well made and with grapes grown in the US and not just CT. The prices are reasonable and overall a great spot.

Connecticut vineyards are often more about the experience than the wine, but I must say, I like the whites here quite a bit! The experience doesn’t disappoint either- very nice airy barn interior, excellent… pergola patio, and a lovely stone staircase to another open patio. Beautiful site, events here must be quite nice. Will be back often.

I usually never leave reviews, but I had to for Heartstone. The owners are the kindest people and were so welcoming to my friends and I. We will definitely be returning when the weather gets warmer!

I came here on a Saturday afternoon and loved their beautiful patio and deck. There is a plenty of seating as well as shade for folks visiting. They were even doing tastings outside as long as you kept your mask on. The wines were on the dry side, which I personally prefer, so enjoyed the selection. Additionally it all was well priced and reasonable with $9 for a tasting of 5! I'd recommend a visit in.

The location itself is nice, but the owner and staff are not very friendly. The sour attitudes we received made the wine taste bad. Seemed like no one wanted to be at their job that day! Wouldn’t recommend. And management - don’t bother replying with excuses because there is no excuse for treating your guests poorly. (I’m seeing that your replies tend to blame everything under the sun, even the customer - bad business tactic in my opinion).

Absolutely beautiful wedding this weekend; the wedding planner Tricia was wonderful. Couldn't have asked for a prettier reception. The owners were also very lovely.
My family loved the winery and will definitely be going back!

Don't have the pictures back from the photographer yet but I know they will be stunning! Great location and venue. -will try to remember to add a sunset photo of us once they are back!

This will be interesting to see in a few years. Right now it looks a bit fabricated, almost like a movie set and I feel it's because it is brand new. It's a beautiful barn and view, but it hasn't developed a personality yet you may see in an older winery. The bottles, however, I find beautiful and it almost made me wish I drank red wine. There is also rumor of a wine dog that makes occasional appearances. I did try a glass of white, and it was dry as advertised. Not my particular cup of tea but for someone who does enjoy dry whites, this may be a good place to stop for a glass

My boyfriend and I went here on Saturday. It was beautiful!! The male worker that did our tasting was enthusiastic, informative, and did an awesome job making us feel welcome. I'm not a huge red wine fan, so we tasted the whites. Delicious! We went with the Brianna for a bottle. Unfortunately as soon as we left I had to rush my boyfriend to the ER, as he had an allergic reaction to the added sulfites!!! Give Heartstone a chance for sure, just bring some Benadryl in case

Stopped in here after hearing about them from the CT wine passport trail.
They have a beautiful building and outdoor patio. The bar and seating area inside are a bit small, there weren't that many of us there but it seemed crowded since we were all in one corner.
At the time of our visit, they had 7 wines (3 white, 3 red, and one rose). They have a wide range of tastes, so almost anyone should be able to find something they like.

Heartstone is great - there's a beautiful patio to sit on with plenty of shade. Went with a large group on a Thursday and there was plenty of space - it fills up much more on Fridays and Saturdays. A great place!

What a great new place. I went with my husband on a Saturday afternoon and it was perfect. It wasn't too busy and we immediately got a spot at the tasting bar. Our sever was very knowledgeable and friendly. He educated us on the wine, history, and future of the vineyard. The wines were delicious and their patio is perfect to enjoy a picnic with a bottle of wine. I would definitely recommend stopping here and spending an afternoon.

After a wonderful first visit to the winery last year I was eager to go back this summer, however I was greatly disappointed. While the view is stunning, you are unfortunately confined to the small fenced in patio area. I always enjoy walking around the vines and taking pictures etc. when I stepped foot onto the grass area I was yelled at and asked to get away from the vines. The older woman working was very rude and abrupt with every interaction. She very rudely let us know that we stayed 2 minutes past their official closing time and proceeded to wait in the parking lot until all the cars left

It's amazing to have a winery in this small town I grew up in. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the barn is adorable- really beautifully constructed. We came here for a wine tasting on a Sunday afternoon, had a tasting and brought some cheese and crackers to enjoy with our favorite glass of wine from the tasting. We met other customers on the outdoor patio and had a fantastic afternoon. The wine was really yummy and we took a couple bottles to go. The bottles are a little expensive but the wine was worth it and we can never leave empty handed. The employees were really friendly and

This is truly a pleasant space. The patio is scenic and offers a very mellow "vibe." The building and the arbor are both works of art and aesthetically pleasing. Although I wasn't a fan of the Pinot Noir, the Brianna (white) and the Frontenac (Red) were exceptional. Friday music is a bonus. My gf and I have been there three times and plan to make Fridays a staple of our schedule.

Excellent wine (especially the reds!), wonderful setting, and knowledgeable staff. Would definitely return with friends to check out the full selection available. Beyond great wine, the staff and location made me feel 'at home'; a feeling hard to capture for new wineries. Looking forward to returning!

Had a tasting by one of the owners. She went into detail of each wine and the grape that I tasted. I fell in love with several of the wines but decided to only buy two bottles so I would come back and buy more. It's a small place but you won't be disappointed if you drive out for a tasting.

I'm giving it five stars, despite the fact that the building -- a beautiful new all wood barn-type structure, with soaring ceilings, arched windows, a big stone fireplace -- is still partially under construction. Not actively, not workmen and tools and stuff, but there is a big expanse of what appears to be a yet-to-be-completed dining/sitting area, behind a half-wall lined with windows adjacent to the current tasting room. I didn't get the full story from the proprietor, but apparently something to do with the permitting at this point. A big mezzanine overlooks, and it appears that it
