At Calvary, we offer a hands-on, integrated teaching approach where learning doesn't take place in one lesson, but rather throughout the day and in everything we do. While letter and number sense is most important, we believe that learning them doesn't have to be via worksheets.
Learning the basics is more concretely absorbed through our daily rhythm, like counting how many times we ring the morning bell or how many friends are sitting in the circle.We focus on creating an awareness of and an appreciation for, the natural world and our role within it. We cultivate kindness and mindfulness, and empower children by celebrating each child's unique strengths.

Services
Our mission is to nurture the development of each child in a safe and inspirational learning environment dedicated to the Episcopal values of faith, hope, love, service and forgiveness. Calvary Nursery School welcomes and encourages children of all backgrounds and traditions, with no denominational expectations or requirements.
A Calvary Nursery School education is more than just the ABC's and 123's. It is an experience for both the children and their families, offering enrichment and community. Oh the treasures that Mother Nature bestows upon us! So many wonderful lessons to learn and ways to be amazed! Children are exposed to nature as curious researchers.
We support learning in a variety of environments as learning has no bounds! Our indoor classroom takes on a natural aesthetic so our outdoor "classroom" becomes an extension. Creating spaces for unstructured play in both areas provides the greatest opportunity for children to explore, discover and truly enjoy the process of learning.
Calvary Nursery School can always benefit from the support of families, friends, alumni and our greater community. There are many ways to support our little school by the sea. All proceeds go directly to the Operating Fund and are used to benefit the preschool and the programs that shape the young minds of our students.

Calvary Nursery School offers a wonderful, nurturing, well-rounded, enriching experience for children. They have a beautiful classroom and playard, go on many adventures throughout the village, have weekly music class and SO much more. Kids come home with mud on their clothes and treasures in their pockets! It has been such a great community of teachers, parents and children to be a part of!!!

My Daughter loves Calvary Nursery School since day one. It was the best choice and we can be more happy for our little one. Great place to get ready for kindergarten with a wonderful staff,lovely classroom, beautiful backyard with playground, safe environment and so much more. We love the Calvary Way!

A wonderful and nurturing school, surrounded by the beauty of Stonington borough. The school uses its surroundings to teach children wonderful life lessons from putting a hand picked bouquet of flowers on a neighbors door for May Day to collecting food for the needy. Kindness is paramount and children learn by doing and creating at their own pace with their peers. It’s a wonderful place and community to be a part of.
