Here is an overly-generous one star for the Santa Clara County IPA, which Blue Shield referred to as "my medical group", but it's really a network for physicians who want to get HMO referrals. In addition, they're supposed generate the authorizations for the PCP's referrals, and they process (pay) the claims for most of the HMO's covered services.

I just have to let everyone know how awesome Linda with Customer Service is. I have been calling SCCIPA for months asking for update on a claim and every time i would only talk to Terry. But on 2 instances, I had a chance to talk to Linda. I felt the genuine care on how she handled my case. She even went over and beyond by calling the concerned party and then giving me a call back to give me update and tell me my next steps. I would like the Management know you have a gem in your Customer Service department named Linda.

A total sham! I am a physician. SCCIPA paid me for a surgery less than half of what MediCAL rate is. Recently, They stole $1000 off of my check for a "not-covered" genetic test that I ordered per the patient request 7 months prior to that. There is no provider service, the 800 number for providers goes to a message: "The wireless customer you are trying to reach is not available".
