Thank you for visiting us this summer and please make your reservations for next summer soon!. This hidden gem is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the small town of Curtis on Big Manistique Lake. The campground is approximately 25 acres and contains both campsites and cabins to allow everyone to enjoy in whatever fashion they wish.

There are 54 campsites available with everything from electric only sites for tenting to pull-thru sites with full hook-ups which are up to 77 feet long (concrete pads are not the entire length of the site). The 13 cabins also have a large selection to choose from -- the oldest log cabin on the waterfront dating back to the early 1900's built by lumberjacks to a modular home which will house up to 13 people.
Services
Log Cabin Resort & Campground has been around since the mid 1900's and has gone thru several changes of owners. The current owner, Margaret Howe, has owned and operated it since 2011. You will find her running around on her golf cart, visiting with everyone (especially the pets) and taking care of housekeeping duties on the campground.
We are closed for the 2021 summer and want to thank everyone who visited with us this year. Reservations are still being taken even though the office is officially closed. Please call or email to make your reservations for your vacation, reunion, wedding and more! Yes, we have had a lot of trouble with our internet the last couple of summers.
This is one of our smaller rustic cabins available but it has a lot of charm, a unique tree and a large yard with a beautiful view of the lake. There is one bedroom with a double bed and a futon which can accommodate up to 4 guests. The bathroom contains only a toilet and sink which means you do need to use the shower house if you need to take a shower.
The largest and most modern of our cabins, Spruce is actually a modular home with a basement that was used as the home for the previous owners. With the 3 bedrooms, a king size bed, double beds and bunks, Spruce can accommodate up to 13 guests! There are 2 full baths on the main floor along with the kitchen, living room and 1 bedroom.
The electric and water sites are good for campers who are not staying for an extended period of time or for those who don't mind using our dump station or paying $20 for the honey wagon to come to your site to pump out your tank. These sites have plenty of shade. Cable and a fire pit are available at all sites.

The folks running the camp ground are very nice ! The views are amazing !! the views are amazing ! oh did I say that twice? :) some tree work could make views from cabin better though. Fishing isn't bad in 2019 we took home a cooler full of Walleye, catching our limit everyday! This year the Walleye eluded us! but the Perch were our buddies year 2021! Spent 2 days on their Pontoon great fun wondering around the lake looking for fish and swimming. The cabin however was much to be desired :/ we didn't spend much time inside, but plan on bringing your own, non stick pans, towels including Kitchen

Cabins supposed to have cable tv, ours kept turning off because the breaker tripped often. Not good for fishing, the islands on the lake are filled with seagulls, I mean filled, like y can't see the sky there were so many, the beach area is tiny...maybe 10 people could lay in it and overall not the best camping experience.

The scamp store really wasn't that big and didn't have anything but other than that everything else was really mice. The water was good and the boats were nice. The beach was small but you had a lot of water to mess around with. You had trails to either ride bikes or take a walk. It is right down the road from dollar general too which is nice.

Our site was ok...thankfully our neighbors moved out so we were not crowded. Bathroom was clean but lack water pressure. Dock and beach area was ok...a bit crowded but usable if you had a boat.

Good hookups at camp site - cable TV was great in the woods.
Shared rest room access was challenging (walking through nearby camp sites) and not very clean inside.

The location is beautiful. Staying in an RV or the cabins might be fine. My husband and I tent camped for a week. We do not feel a four star rating is appropriate.
Initially I was charged at a higher rate than shown on the website. It was reduced upon questioning.
Trash - pickup is scheduled between 9:00-9:30 where bags of trash set out at the road are picked up. There are NO trashcans available in the campground for depositing your refuse. If the trash isn't picked up quickly the seagulls get to it and spread it everywhere. Once the mess is spread, management may or may not have the inclination

Nice quiet campground. Friendly staff. We stayed for a week in a deluxe RV site. Private wooded area with Full hookup and cable for a reasonable price. Rented a pontoon from them to go out on the lake and it had everything on it we needed. We will definitely be back.

We were planning to stay here Wednesday thru Saturday. The cabin was in "okay" condition, but was said to accommodate 6 people. The futon was broken and VERY unstable so actually only slept 4. When we talked to the office the next day they refused to refund us the 2 nights because "I didn't know it was broken". When trying to call and question about the cabin and things that may be provided, I played phone tag for 2 weeks and still never actually spoke to anyone. Very disappointed with the way this was handled, we ended up leaving and paying for a different room somewhere else.

We asked for an open site next to our relatives and was told it was booked. We stayed from Tuesday through Monday and the open site was never occupied. We were also told we booked 2 sites and would be charged. Fortunately, the 2nd site charge was a mistake on the bookkeepers end.
The night I left, another camp resident, stood in front of my car and would not let me move around her. Once I was able to navigate my car around her, she started to bang on my drivers side window. I could not move my car (my children became scared).
I do not recommend this campground because of the lack of organization
