Window Woman of New England was established in 2003 by Alison Hardy. The idea for the business came about after years of frustration living in old houses with drafty broken windows and dissatisfaction with replacement window options. Call it Yankee thrift, but it just made no sense to throw out windows with lots of charm and character just because they didn't look their best or were painted stuck.
After years of trial and error, lots of reading, lots of questions, and a growing boredom with work in the textile business Ms. Hardy started working on not just her own, but friends windows, and then paying customers. The Window Woman team all bring a variety of skills from their "former lives" and all share a passion for doing quality work.

Services
Your original windows add a lot of character and charm to your home. They have weathered more than 50 years of use and can have a much longer life span with some maintenance. Chances are they have survived as they are made from some very solid, high quality wood assembled with fine craftsmanship. INSIDE the existing window openings making your visible light less.
We offer a wide variety of services tailored to your needs and the condition and style of your window. We offer three levels of service but can customize to your particular window issues. Typically this work is done on site and involves replacing broken sash cords with cord or chain, chipping out loose or failing glazing and patching in new glazing, and installing weather stripping.

Alison and the crew never dissapoint! I've used Window Woman of New England for several jobs now and will continue to do so in the future. The latest job was a custom transom window for a re-designed doorway. The window was perfect, and constructed with traditional methods and period glass. I couldn't be happier! Highly recommend!

After careful consideration, we decided to restore rather than replace our original windows during a renovation. Alison and her crew were very responsive, friendly, and and performed good work. I learned a lot about the history, mechanics, and upkeep of these windows, and am proud to have saved a part of New England history.
