A companion is a professional, non-medical caregiver that provides assistance to seniors or disabled adults at home. Companions can help with daily living activities such as, cooking, running errands, and household chores. Customize the services to fit your needs with an hourly visit schedule. We require a minimum of 5 hours per visit and15 hours per week and provide up to 24/7 live-in care.
24/7 live-in care is an option that provides a professional caregiver or aide to stay in the home for a set period of time (days, weeks, months). The live-in caregiver uses a bedroom in the home to sleep at night while the care receiver sleeps and is up during the day to assist with meals, personal care, medications, walking, and general daily activities.
Our professional, trained caregivers can provide supervision for safety, cognitive stimulation for well-being, and guidance with the activities of daily living to support your loved one through the disorienting symptoms of dementia. Cognitive stimulation - each caregiver is provided an activities guide filled with brain games and exercises for those afflicted with cognitive impairments i.e.
About one third of the senior population over the age of 65 falls each year. Falls are the leading cause of death from injury for the elderly. Falls can not only result in severe injury but also carry serious life-altering consequences such as, being wheelchair bound or having to move out of the home and into a nursing home.
Art therapy is a wonderful way to enhance quality of life. It has been known to ease symptoms associated with dementia, depression, and Parkinson's disease. I was very pleased with the care provided by Families First. I contracted them to have a companion visit with my father in a local nursing nome, as I live out of state. The service implemented a good, qualified fit quickly. I found the companion, (Loreather), to be very caring and supportive of my father's needs. She reported out to me regularly with the appropriate detail and was a great advocate for my father at the nursing facility. It was a great comfort and relief to have a trustworthy service like Families First on-site with my father in his final weeks when I could not be there in person

I worked with Family First Home Companions to set up help for my Parents. My Mom is the caregiver and Dad has Dementia. I met with Alyssa and she drove out and met with us right away at my Parent's house as I was in from out of town on a tight schedule. Alyssa was wonderful in explaining the services and helping my Mom through this difficult time. My Dad is thrilled with his "Personal Assistant" Jackie who visits for 4 hours per shift. Dad looks forward to her visits and tells her stories of his youth. Mom told me it was clear Jackie was not only a great person but well trained in caring for Dementia

Simply stated...Family First Home Companions is second to none when it comes to finding the perfect home care health service option for your loved one! From the beginning, the process of navigating these uncharted waters was completely overwhelming for my brother and I. We were in search of finding the best situation for our mother who was in need of companion care after returning home from an extended in-patient hospital stay for depression treatment. Things quickly changed the moment we spoke with Alyssa on the phone as we immediately felt at ease with her and knew this was the best choice for

Family First was chosen to provide home-care for my mother-in-law. From the beginning of their service, the employees were professional and caring. My mother-in-law had the best of care, and her family had the knowledge that she was safe in her home, which was extremely comforting. The office staff is extremely professional and accommodating, even with scheduling changes. The companions are absolutely amazing, and provide the utmost in care. My mother-in-law was taken to all appointments, by her companion, which was a tremendous asset. In addition, her laundry, light housekeeping and light meals

My family and I would like to share our pleasure with Family First Home Care. I was married this past weekend, and we were hesitant to bring my 85 year old mother down to Long Island from MA to share in my special day due to her mobility and other care needs. We decided to make accommodations for her so she could get the rest and care she needed and also be present for this special family time! Stereotypes abound in the field of home health care, and I have to tell you that we were VERY PLEASED with the professionalism, attention to detail, and compassionate care that we experienced with Family

When it was clear our 90-year old father needed support to continue to stay in his home, our research pointed us to Family First. We were very impressed with their caring and professional assessment process which ensured our father would receive the help he needed as his cognitive and physical abilities continued to decline. Our concerns about his welfare were quickly abated not only with the skilled companion-support he was getting but also their compassion and patience with him. We were very grateful for the company's ability to manage necessary schedule and personnel changes and to effectively
