Our owner, Steve Elesky, is a certified arborist and has been working with trees since he was an 18-year-old forestry service firefighter. He took that experience and turned it into a business, where we have worked with many prestigious clients across the area. Southwest Outdoor Services is working in collaboration with the Helping Hands charity organization to assist residents of San Diego County with learning about the Fire Mitigation & Defensible Space Program that provides assistance with creating defensible space around homes to reduce damage to structures from wildfires.
The Defensible Space Grants Program is a grants program funded by the San Diego Gas & Electric Company to promote compliance with state cod PRC 4291, local fire codes, San Diego County's Consolidated Fire Code, and to facilitate firefighting efforts to reduce structural damages from increasing wildfire threats.

On 5/21 of this year I spent $1200 on a prepayment for this company to do a professional landscape design. Occording to the quote it was supposed to include the following
Multiple customer site visits (usually 2-3)
* Site measurements and site data collection - to layout the
existing site elements
* Base Sheet and Base Map - overhead layout of the site,
setbacks, all existing site elements (garage, driveway, walks,
vegetation), features that will remain, and features that will be
removed
* Site analysis - zoning, codes, topography, drainage, soil,
climate, utilities, views, etc.
* Design

If you are looking for a company that has attention to detail and is reliable this is NOT the company for you. Maybe if your project is over $100k + he will take better care of you... He said that our job was super easy and "small" at $27k so it wouldn't be a problem.
Main issues:
We felt like we had to be on site every day to make sure things got done as discussed. The owner didn't take notes and didn't relay information to his team, so we had to remind and correct them as they went along.
Recieved 2 different types of grass so the yard looks patchy.

Our retaining wall was damaged during the winter rains. Steve performed complete reconstruction of the wall, installed a drainage system and improved on the original wall design. He also reshaped the hillside to alleviate erosion and planted a drought tolerant landscape that looks fabulous! He is knowledgeable and his crew very efficient.

Steve and his crew did an excellent job removing old vegetation from my front yard and replaced it with crushed rock, stones, and decomposed granite as I requested. All services were performed in a timely manner and was completed on time without a hitch. I have been receiving plenty of admiration from my neighbors and will continue to refer his team to friends and family members. Thanks again Steve and Team!

I had Steve and his crew come out and take care of a ficus tree that the roots were lifting up the sidewalk, and heading towards the house. He is a certified arborist and said they could trim it, but it would need trimmed every year, also there was an issue with the roots heading towards the house.
The crew arrived when promised, they were courteous, professional and cleaned up when finished.
Great Job, I am loving the look now without my monster of a ficus tree.

Steve Elesky and his crew have trimmed, shaped and cared for our seven trees for three years. The prices at Southwest Tree Services are really reasonable and they are friendly, knowledgeable and clean up thoroughly. Our trees look beautiful and our front and back yards look neat and tidy.
