Prevention of dental caries (tooth decay) is a priority at Southern Illinois Pediatric Dentistry. Establishing a dental home early is vital to ensuring teeth remain healthy throughout childhood. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children be seen within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth, or by the age of one.
If your child is currently a patient of Dr. Christy, you can either call the office or, if after normal office hours, her cell phone at (618) 791-2794. Dr. Christy will return your call as soon as possible. 1. Have the child bite on some sterile gauze or a washcloth to help stop the bleeding. The mouth tends to bleed a lot, so keeping pressure on the area is important.
There are many changes taking place in a growing child. One of those changes is of course the loss of primary ("baby") teeth and the addition of permanent ("adult") teeth. As a part of your child's comprehensive continuing care plan, we will evaluate growth and development of their teeth and jaws at every appointment.
It's very important that your child be at ease at the office. We also want you, the parent, to be at ease and watch us in action. Being there with us during treatment also gives you the chance to ask any questions you may have. We understand that some children, and even their parents, can have some anxiety associated with going to the dentist.

My 5.5 year old absolutely loved his visit and everyone in the office today! He had a horrible experience at a different dentist a few months ago and was so nervous about his appointment today. He spoke so highly of your office that his 4.5 year old brother is asking when he gets to come. Thank you for being patient and making his appointment fun!
