This book was the first work to link the words, "reflux, " "diet, " and "cure"; Dropping Acid summarizes Dr. Jamie Koufman's 25-years of clinical and scientific research (and discoveries) on acid reflux.
It explains how LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) is different than GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), provides a list of reflux trigger foods and food allergies; and it reveals why a low-acid diet is important in the induction (detox) phase of treatment.Dropping Acid provides a science-based and natural roadmap for reflux recovery making it possible for refluxers to get off of medications like Nexium and Prilosec.

I saw many specialists for my chronic cough I had for over 6 months - pulmonologist, endocrinologists etc. Finally, one doctor thought it was acid reflux and prescribed medications which I did take. However the 'big' cure and change in the reduction of my coughing came when I followed the diet in Dropping Acid book. Amazing. I followed the instructions in Dr. Koufman's book to the T, viewed every lecture I could find Dr. Koufman had on YouTube, and I was so much better within weeks and progessively better in 2-3 months. This was 2 years ago. I am so grateful and happy to write this review for a

I am a patient of Dr. Koufman, She is a wonderful person and healer. Did you ever see reviews that were all five stars with a few one-stars? No Four, threes or twos? You should know that most of the one-star reviews are FAKE REVIEWS, perhaps put up by a “competitor.” For example, Tracy Russell never worked for Dr. Koufman and Christian Smith was never her patient. (I checked with Dr. K’s staff.) In a nutshell, Dr. Jamie Koufman is great, and she is the world’s leading expert on acid reflux! Just look at her blog! Awesome!”

I'm so thankful to have met Dr. K and for her to treat me. After 5 years of coughing constantly, I got a correct diagnosis (I can't count how many doctors got it wrong). Within a week, I was down to coughing only lightly a handful of times a day, and through her management, I'm down even from that. My breathing has improved tremendously - no more breathing exercises daily, normal pulse ox. I went from my typical 90/91 up to 97-100 within a week. She's amazing!
I also believe her when she says some of these reviews here are fake. She's been brutally honest with me, and I trust her.

Dr. Koufman is the founder and expert on LPR. She is clear; direct; compassionate and genuinely cares about her patient's health and well-being. She has been responsive and available despite the high demand that my medical situation(s) have required. Dr. Koufman has also collaborated with other physicians on my behalf.
She is generous with her knowledge and recommendations. She and her staff continue to work with me to further improve my respiratory reflux and the negative effects it has had on my health.
Thank you Dr Koufman & your team!

I have seen numerous doctors for my terrible gerd and silent reflux. They all told me the same thing--I have asthma, just take nexxium or prilosec, and albuterol. I knew this couldn't be correct, and all of those drugs can have serious long terms effects. My mother told me about Dr. Koufman. I got her book, and this past May I went in to see her. I was administered several tests over two days and received what, for the first time in my life, sounded like a correct diagnosis. Dr. Koufman explained to me in specific detail exactly what was wrong with me, and it wasn't asthma. I don't have asthma

Dr. Koufman has done wonders with my health, of which I suffered from severe acid reflux, and I am fortunate to have found her. Follow the very strict diet and medicinal regimen as specified. You must be willing to change your diet and alter your food choices. Be patient. Be curious with questions regarding the protocol given to you, and do ask questions, and you will be pleased with the depth of knowledge from this doctor. Thank you again Dr. Koufman, Emanuel

BEST doctor I’ve ever had. Hands down. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional and caring. Everyone in the office creates a nice environment to visit. I first went to Dr Kouffman desperate and she got to the cause of my condition, took her time with me and cured me. My health has drastically improved since becoming her patient.

RUN!
After about three days on Gabapentin and Amitriptyline, I noticed that I was not only having nerve pain in my throat, but that I now had nerve pain throughout my entire body (and still have had it for three months); it was shooting into my eyes, face, ears and anywhere else you can imagine, and also got worse in my throat. Initially, I had not gone back to Dr. Koufman for about a month or two because several things she said on the first visit or told patients incorrectly made us wary of her; immediately, she told me that because she knows exactly what's wrong with me, I no longer can see

Dr. Koufman is an amazing doctor. I don't even have the words to say how thankful I am that I made the trip to NYC to see her. I read her book "Dropping Acid" about 6 years ago, which described my symptoms exactly, and I knew in my heart that I was dealing with respiratory reflux. I should've gone to see her then, but bounced from doctor to doctor in Boston, who kept telling me I did not have that condition, I had no component of reflux, and that I had "visceral hypersensitivity." I was even referred to psychiatric doctors (to convince me that I was not experiencing my symptoms I guess). Dr. Koufman
