Founded in 1980, NYSEPH has had a mission to train clinicians in the healthcare field in the techniques, skills, and ideas created by Milton H. Erickson. Erickson's work helped make hypnosis an important strategy and a highly-regarded clinical tool. It has been embraced by medical and therapeutic communities all over the world, garnering a great deal of research support.
NYSEPH's mission is to provide in-depth training in Ericksonian hypnotherapy, utilizing an ongoing, collaborative, supervisory and competency-based model to ensure individuals are equipped to fully integrate hypnosis into their clinical work. In contrast to many programs, the ongoing and longer-term nature of NYSEPH's training offers ongoing support and a structure for deeper learning.

Hypnosis is a highly focused state of attention in which one is able to access a wealth of unconscious resources for self-growth and change. The trance state is actually a natural phenomenon, sometimes occurring spontaneously. An example of that is when you have the experience of finding yourself immersed in a compelling daydream, drifting off and possibly discovering a new solution to an old problem.
Membership in NYSEPH is open to all those who are interested in hypnosis. The Membership fee is $75.00 per year, which runs for the calendar year (membership is free for current NYSEPH students). Those who have graduated from NYSEPH and are currently licensed professionals with liability insurance may be listed as a referral on our website.
We offer a large range of hypnosis video tapes and some DVD's for NYSEPH members and students. You will be able to see how practitioners of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy incorporate Erickson's hypnotic techniques into their own therapeutic work. To borrow tapes, please call Judith Grosz at (212) 794-0143.
