I started working as a painter when I was 14 years old. It happened by accident. My Dad was repainting the trim on our home and he sent me to sand down our front columns. I did sand them, but not just to a smooth, paintable surface, but down to the bare wood. Our neighbor was a painting contractor and when he saw what I had done - he hired me on the spot for the whole summer!
I continued painting throughout summer breaks in high school and even came home from college to paint in the summer. But my sites were set on taking the business world by storm and I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After graduating I moved to Durham, North Carolina and worked in the loan department of a bank.
