We were adding a window in our daylight basement as part of a larger remodel. The new window required cutting into the foundation of the house. Steve came on a Saturday to accommodate our schedule to give an estimate. We needed official documentation for the City of Burien for our building permit. He said it would take a couple weeks to get the plans and drawings. He had it done in about a week, even in the middle of a snow storm. His plans were approved by the city and our contractor had no problem implementing them. We would definitely use SL Engineering again if the need arises.

As a Designer working with many Structural engineers, my experience with SL Engineering stands out as a very positive one.I hired Steve for one of my projects for a kitchen remodel.
Steve looked through the existing structure and was able to expedite in producing full final report, calculations for the design he suggested within two days for a reasonable price. He was easy to reach and communicate with.His mastery skills is what I needed not only to finish the project early, but also bring structural stability to the house and peace of mind to our client. So. Happy!! My wife and I couldn't be happier. We had seen easily a couple dozen houses while house shopping and didn't like anything. Nothing like falling in love with a house finally only to find out through the inspection that there were possible foundation issues! Most people get scared but we didn't want to walk away. I called SL Engineering and spoke with Steve who right away I knew was the guy I wanted to come out and help with our project. We had a wall removal project in our kitchen dining room area that we needed a beam analysis on because we wanted to remove a wall that was structural. Steve came out answered all my questions and most of all made me feel confident about the project. The thing that I felt really made Steve stand out over other engineers was his ability to explain why and what needed to be done in a way I could understand but at the same time in a knowledgeable way that I was also learning
