John's Garden Malibu has gone through a journey of transformations over the years, from its humble beginnings back in 1955 as a door to door produce delivery business, to opening its doors in the Malibu Country Mart in 1975 as a fruit stand.
Founder John Musante and his two sons, Jim and John, realized the "Be Good" dream, serving sandwiches, salads, soups and shakes with the finest and freshest ingredients, making John's Garden a local favorite in the Malibu community.In 2013 there was yet another change when Bulgarian native, Boyan Kinov, took over the business after working there for 5 years.

I work across the street for my break & happy that they have options for me (gluten & soy allergy) I get the chicken rice bowl, add feta, and put the dressing on the side. They have a lot of other options and health food snacks, drinks, and water options (love the rose water)

Food quality is great. Who knew greens can taste good much dressing. I recommended the chicken avocado wrap. The quinoa salad is good too. Its well proportioned between the different vegetables and chicken, which I added for extra $$. I got the food for takeout and they took longer than what the pickup time stated and forgot a fork. Still the food was good. 👍🏼

Great sandwiches. This time I got a Surfer/Princess, which has turkey, lettuce, tomato, avocado and mayo. It’s served with a salad that has really good dressing. My wife got a Chinese salad, which is really good too.
Service is friendly and prompt. Dining is outside on a very nice patio in a courtyard of several shops. There is also a well equipped playground that young kids would enjoy.

I want more than anything to give this a five star, but the wait just doesn't allow me to.
I have been going to this restaurant since I was 8 years old (1986) and some things have changed, while others are almost exactly the same.
The Malibu Chef sandwich is still a staple on the menu.
Big John, who used to work behind the counter (what seemed like every day of the year) has passed on to serve delicious food in the next realm.
The store is still small, but packed with snacks and beverages.
The crowd has definitely changed. What used to be a surfer crowd with Malibu mom's, has turned into LA
