Services
Golden Gavel's owner, auctioneer, and appraiser, Patrick Soucy, started selling antiques and household items at age 13. He opened his first antique business at age 18. Patrick is a graduate of the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering, a member of the National Auctioneers Association and a member of the Certified Appraisers Guild of America.
If you want to participate but cannot do so in person, Golden Gavel will competitively execute bids on your behalf. You can bid live on the phone; deliver a written bid to our office between 2 p.m. and the auction start time; or participate on the web during one of our quarterly Internet auctions. To register to bid, simply go to the office window with your driver's license.
Very frequently, people will dispose of items they don't want before they realize how valuable those items are. They throw money away. We see this all the time. Don't throw anything away until you meet with us. One day I arrived at a house to do an appraisal. I cringed when I saw a dumpster already parked in the driveway.

The entire staff are excellent. Situation was almost an entire home clear out, consisting of both valuables (antiques) and junk. Staff gave a few options, in terms of how money would be handled. Staff at time of haul out were kind and beyond thorough. They got everything right - what stayed and what went. Also offered to return for remaining items later.

Nice people, but their business is predicated on doing shipping with literally the worst UPS store I've ever worked with; UPS in Enfield, CT. I cannot recommend buying anything from Golden Gavel if you need the item to be shipped because it'll take at least 6 weeks, the item may arrive damaged (I've already had 2 arrive broken), and you'll spend way too much on shipping than you expect. It's really unfortunate that they don't do their own shipping, or at least work with a reputable shipping company/store.

Golden Gavel is a good auction and also not the best either. First, they have an early bird auction that starts outside then you make your way into one room. It took 3 1/2 hours to get through that room. Its also a walk around auction. Be prepared to do a lot of standing. The electronics auction is going at the same time as the early bird. Problem, you can't be in two places at the same time! Okay, it is now 7:00 pm. Main auction is going on and I'm still working on my items I'm interested in in the early bird! Again, I can't be in two places at the same time!!! Also prices went up VERY high in

I've been going to Golden Gavel's auctions as often as possible for.....shoot, at least 12 years. The entire staff (Pat, Ralph, Heather, Hippy, Dalton, Travis... there are a lot of you guys!) has never once let me down. I've never been a seller, but, speaking as a frequent buyer, these folks are always happy to help their customers, from offering their expert knowledge to assisting in organization of left bids to helping load your vehicle and everything in between. This establishment has been running auctions for a while and the staff service is courteous and attentive to your needs. The owner is a plus in term of customer's interaction and care and he is always reluctant to accommodate your needs without jeopardizing the sellers earnings. I've dealt with both Patrick and Ralph for the past 15 years now. Ive bought a plethora of good things from them over the years as well as have had very good dealings when selling stuff through them. I've never really been disappointed and they've always advertise my items perfectly. The ones that were worth advertising. I read another review on someone complaining about their commission rates. Their rates are just as low and just as high as all of the other auctions near here so I'm not so sure with the gentleman was complaining about

First time going to a auction. One of the auctioneers Ralph lombazzo I think teaches a class on picking and selling at Manchester community College. I'm interested I took the class I attended the auction. It was "recommended "more people more bids Duh. I wonder why. Anyways in the class he spent more then one class on glassware but stuff like toys about 5 minutes if that. Coins about 3. I won a box lot at golden gavel. Then in class he makes the remark that box lots are worthless and not worth the money. Extra stuff they are trying to get rid of goes into them. I donated what

Amazing experience! Patrick and his team handled my family's estate with the utmost care and concern. Why am I NOT surprised that the owner would lie again about the actual events!
Here's what happened, TRUTHFULLY:
I purchased two bracelets thru Liveauctioneers and called GG to pay with MasterCard. The less than intelligent (#STUPID) office clerk added an extra "0" to the transaction amount and attempted to charge my card for over $8,000 instead of $800, the actual amount of the two bracelets!
This triggered my CC's fraud division, the transaction was declined and my account frozen over the weekend!
