Hi, I am Joanne McSorley, a professional newborn photographer based n Medford, New Jersey. I specialize in maternity photography, newborn photography, cake smash photography, and child photography. Photography has been a passion of mine since I was 12 when, in the days of film and darkrooms, I received my first manual camera.
Joanne is both a talented photographer and a baby whisperer! She was accommodating as our session needed to be moved up a week and was patient with my little one who decided to go number 2 right after she skillfully swaddled her in 2 layers lol. The pictures, turned out so beautiful. She comes unequivocally recommended from this hard to please momma!
You are advised to book your session 8-9 weeks in advance to ensure you receive a spot in the diary. I have a collection of beautiful designer maternity gowns that are available for clients to use during their sessions. Pregnancy is such a beautiful time. Whether this is your first pregnancy or your last, this is the only time you will be pregnant with THIS child.
This newborn photography session is perfect for those just wanting a couple of beautiful, professional images. A $100 non-refundable retainer is required to hold a date. All newborn sessions take place Mon-Fri at 10 am at my Medford studio. Newborns are best photographed within the first 16 days of life, please book whilst in your 3rd trimester to ensure a date in the diary.
The premium cake smash is decorated in any theme/color of your choice, whether it be boho chic, Mickey Mouse, Hungry caterpillar, blue and white. This does happen. Some children just love the cake and dig right in while others are hesitant. I would highly recommend that you have your child try eating and playing with cake a few days before their session.

We used Joanne for our son’s 1st birthday cake smash pictures. He was born during the pandemic so was leery of new people and places. Joanne was very patient with him and gave him time to warm up. We even got a few pictures with smiles! We were very pleased with the pictures and she got them to us quickly. We couldn’t be happier and will definitely use Joanne in the future.

I used Joanne McSorley Photography 3 times. We used her when our daughter was first born, 6 months and cake smash. I would keep coming back time and time again if she did other sessions but I definitely know if we have a second baby we will be back.

Joanne was absolutely wonderful to work with! She not only took great care in her artistry but also in the care of my newborn son. I was so comfortable and confident we made the best decision choosing her. The hard part was choosing the images to keep! She captured our son in so many amazing poses. We had a maternity shoot with Joanne in early Sept 2020 and could not have been happier with our experience. She helped us feel at ease right from the beginning, which really shows in the photos. She had us shoot at a location she knows really well, so we seamlessly moved from photo to photo, getting the most out of our hour-long session. The photos are absolutely beautiful -- I said that I wanted a romantic, ethereal vibe to the photos, and she delivered. We would highly recommend Joanne for your maternity shoot!
