Drop everything and get yourself over to this bakery! The croissants are light and substantial at the same time. The chai is homemade from the finest ingredients. The breads nourish the body and soul. Andre and Jessica have done an impeccable job of bringing a wellspring of health, pleasure, and integrity to our town.

The bread here is somehow simultaneously dense and airy, so moist and full of texture! We've tried bakeries all over Santa Fe and in San Francisco, and glad we drove to Taos for this one as it's now my favorite. We had read about this place in Edible New Mexico, and appreciated how this small family owned business supports local grains and farms. We also tried a bunch of pastries (Regular croissant, green chile croissant, cinnamon swirl & chile pecan bar) which were okay. The croissant is really small and mostly flaky without a lot of soft layers, and the chile bar had a little too

Some of the best bread and soup I've ever had, anywhere. I would come to Taos just to eat here.
They have a gluten free buckwheat and millet sourdough bread that has an amazing crust and an outstanding flavor. I've never had anything like it. The baker must have been blessed by the bread gods.
The other sourdough breads are delicious, and I have a lemon bar waiting for me.
Try the pecan chile bar while you're here.
Just get one of everything, keep it simple.

Wild leaven bakery is amazing! My niece and nephew also loved the freshly made pizzas and soups. Everything is organic and locally sourced. Delicious gluten free breads as well. A variety of desserts are all delicious! There's this nut bar made with local peppers, it's not spicy but sweet and the pepper gives it flavor. The tomato soup was delicious with fresh herbs. I dipped the pizza (pesto made with sunflower seeds) and it was so good. I highly recommend stopping here for a bite or a to go bag of breads and pastries and desserts. Such a great little spot.

I love this place. Every loaf of bread, scone, sweet roll, or roll is unique and healthy. They use lots of different grains and fruits. I especially like their little pizzas. I load up when I am in town. They participate in the Taos Farmers market as well on Sat. They also serve soups that are delicious.

Ok the breads they do are truly scrumptious. You can't go wrong with any of them. They bake fresh bread twice a week (at least when I was there). But don't stop just for the bread. Their chile bars are also a must as well as their scones (any flavor). But that's not all. Have a soup, usually vegetarian. We had a Thai mushroom soup that was out of this world. Don't visit Taos without stopping there. They also have a booth at the market.

Saturday about noon I was driving by and saw a bakery sign. Since I was in a bakery mood I made a U turn and went up the steps all pleased to try a new bakery.
When I opened the door a man came up furious and yelling at me "didn't you read the sign? We're closed!" I'm writing this still shaken at being yelled at like that. The "sign" was a little note taped to the door at waist height. And why leave the door unlocked when the place is closed?
