When one medication he prescribed didn't work for me and came with pretty bad side effects, he suggested it was all in my head. The replacement prescription was a higher dose, which wasn't intentional, because he didn't convert the dosage correctly. Needless to say, I never went back and proceeded to find an MD that actually helped. I see that the negative reviews on this page seem to get a vote for being "funny," and while I don't want to make any accusations, I wouldn't be completely surprised if the business owner shared that sentiment.

This is NOT a man I would recommend that anyone pay for ongoing emotional support. Meds sure, but not empathy. While his intellectual skills (and charm) are intact, they sadly drew me into believing that he actually 'cared' about me as a patient and not simply an ATM. IF you plan to see him for 'med managment' that will likely work out for you as he knows his meds.
BUT if you seek reflective compassion, a thoughtful therapeutic connection or even compassionate interest .. forget it. The man is an empty nest. Don't let the MD or UCLA imprint fool you, that isn't

I was in search of help. Instead
I received criticism ,and multiple visits to pick up one medication, He actually would not fill my prescription until I showed him an Empty Bottle ? He charged for another office visit ! When I questioned him about a few issues he walked in the other room, returned and handed me a piece of paper saying that I needed to find another doctor within 30 days . He lied about having to take a prescription into the Pharmacy and then phoned it in, after I questioning him . This doctor is always rushing and making demands , putting charges on my credit card, without

Very intelligent and accommodating. Easy to stay in touch. Evidence-based but also open to new treatments for hard-to-treat conditions. More due diligence than many other professionals I've seen.
And JUST the right amount of dry wit and sassiness to keep your visits entertaining too. :) Excellent physician overall!

Dr. Ryan has all the characteristics I look for in a psychiatrist. He's professional, emphathetic, reliable, and extremely intelligent.
I usually feel nervous and vulnerable during therapy, but he immediately put me at ease and created a warm and non-judgmental environment I felt comfortable opening up in. He's a great listener and worked with me to create a treatment plan specifically tailored for my needs. I appreciate that he takes the time to thoroughly explain how and why specific medications work and the potential side effects I can expect instead of just giving me prescriptions
