Everyone is welcomed warmly whether you are a life-long customer or just coming in for the first time. Sid Neuman and his beloved wife, the late Rose Neuman, bought Star Deli in 1973.

Best Deli in the Country. THE BEST! My son-in-law, who has eaten in every deli in NYC and NJ, said that Star has the best corned beef sandwich anywhere. Great service. Great food. The best pastrami and chopped liver. Always has been and always will be my favorite deli! Love the Corned Beef Special (Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, Cole Slaw, Russian Dressing on Rye).

Happened to be driving down 12 Mile Rd. and noticed star deli. I was so excited to have noticed them because I used to come here all the time and the pastrami sandwiches were great. I walked in to order a couple of sandwiches and there were probably about five people working behind the counter. No one acknowledged me. I hadn’t been there in a while and I wasn’t even sure where to place my order or what side of the counter to order on. I stood there looking at the menu waiting for them to ask if I needed any help and during that time several customers whom they were familiar with walked in,

We used to come here at least once a week. Best food, great customer service. Now you walk in and immediately get yelled at about not wearing a mask. Extremely rude and the worst part is the food quality has totally changed for the worse.
It’s really too bad because they really did used to make good food.

Time for a new deli -
I have been going to Star Deli for over 40 years still a great deli but the personality is gone - Unfortunately Sid's granddaughter now runs it and somehow she has taken the great personalities of Harry and Sid and replaced them with just the converse - just an abrasive experience. It became less pleasant a year or two before COVID but now it's nearly unbearable.
Even after the Michigan Governor removed all COVID restrictions last week Star has added more "mask required" signs everywhere and they yell at you even if you take your mask down to unlock your phone with Face
