New South Credit Union was founded in 1952 and originally chartered to serve the employees of Southern Railway. In 2004 New South became a community chartered credit union which allows us to serve everyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in Knox, Grainger and Union counties in addition to the employees and families of a variety of companies and organizations within the area.

New South Credit Union is unique and distinct from any bank. Unlike banks that are in business to make profit, New South is a not-for-profit institution organized to promote thrift and provide credit to members. Yes, we offer savings and checking accounts, loans, and many other financial services that banks offer, but New South was chartered to give people an alternative to using a for-profit bank.

There are some requirements to open an account with New South Credit Union. If you fall within any category listed below, then you're eligible to apply for membership and immediately begin benefiting from the services we offer. And remember, once you become a member you can retain lifetime membership regardless of any relocation or employment change.

New South Credit Union, like all financial institutions, is required to follow regulations set forth by the Federal Reserve Bank. Regulation D governs the amount of reserves that a financial institution must set aside based on deposit accounts.

The following transactions can be performed from your Savings, IRA or Money Market accounts but are limited to a maximum of six total transactions (any combination) per account, during a calendar month due to the requirements of Regulation D.Funds transfers (not initiated in person at a branch) and payable to a third party such as a wire transfer request or recurring wire.
New South offers a variety of ways to access your accounts and stay on top of your finances! You can manage all of your accounts - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through Online Banking, Mobile Banking, and Text Banking. Would you like to get a text and/or e-mail when your payroll is posted, when your account reaches a certain balance, when your debit card is used, or other helpful alerts.
Call the 24/7 Fraud Watch Hotline at 1-833-337-6075 and report the card lost/stolen; then. Contact the credit union immediately afterwards. If it is after-hours, you should call the credit union at 865-523-0757 and choose the lost card option or email us at service4u@newsouthcu.com; Be sure to include your name, the last 4 digits of your credit union account number, last 4 digits of card if known, and a return phone number; then.

Its a great place to bank. All of the staff, at all the branches, are so nice and helpful. I've never had a bad experience in the 10 years I've been with them.

A great local credit union. New South has some of the best interest rates around Knoxville for auto loans. Also, Tammy and Jennifer have always been very helpful with everything.

I personally love the News South Credit Union in Maynardville TN! Everyone that I have delt with are wonderful and very knowledgeable. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my banking needs. I would give them 10 🌟 if I was able to.

Tellers are very nice but branch managers at East Knoxville and Maynardville are lacking in customer service. I went to handle affairs with my deceased father at East Knox and the Mgr was late not on time. I sat and waited 20 minutes for her to show. I was then to have my wife sign on to the account at Maynardville on our way home. We never met the branch Mgr in person she was laughing cutting up with 3 employee in her office. I have done a lot of financial transactions in my 32 years at Joe Neubert Collision and I can say this outfit is very unprofessional in management. Southern Credit Union

Just moved to the area. Applied online for an account and was approved. Due to Covid, you have to schedule the lobby. Called, told just to visit the drive thru and was met with such a rude prudish person ever existed. How can she still have a job? After her lack of assistance, I realized I want my money elsewhere. Just don't.

Very rude people there I applied for a loan and they said they couldn’t do anything cause of my credit and they asked for my car title till I pay back the loan and couple days later I went and closed out my checking and savings account will not bank with them again

The branch in maynardville has the absolute worst customer service I have ever been to in a bank. Very rude and will run you around in circles. Not going back here again. I wouldn’t even give 1star.
