Services
Board Certified Ophthalmologist, Robert W. Johnson, MD, is a retired U.S. Navy officer, serving first as a nuclear submarine engineer prior to attending the Uniformed Services University Medical School in Bethesda, Maryland. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the National Naval Medical Center.
Dr. Johnson invests time in conferences and other educational opportunities to stay abreast of the latest research, medical procedures, and surgical techniques. Our goal is to identify and incorporated these opportunities to provide patients with "quality of life improvements". The following are examples which have been incorporated into our practice.
Island Eye Care is the first practice on Whidbey Island to offer the most incredibly accurate and precise cataract surgery without the need for a surgical blade. Integrating Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery, Dr. Johnson uses the LenSx Femtosecond Laser system to more precisely remove cataracts.

We are very excited to bring to Whidbey Island the most advanced technology in laser cataract surgery and lens implant accuracy which will result in optimal vision correction for distance, near, or both. The LenSx Femtosecond Laser is an all laser technique designed to address some of the most critical aspects of cataract surgery.
Island Eye Care introduces a new option to improve the patients' cataract surgery experience. Dropless Cataract SurgeryTM is now available to eliminate the after cataract eye drop regimen. The goal with Dropless Cataract SurgeryTM is to improve the surgical outcome and provide the patient with least impact in their post surgical lifestyle.
Our Glaucoma patients are reducing their need for drops and saving money. Set up an appointment with Dr. Johnson to determine if you are a good candidate for this new treatment. Diabetic retinopathy, the most common diabetic eye disease, occurs when blood vessels in the retina change. Sometimes these vessels swell and leak fluid or even close off completely.

I visit Island Eye Care for the first time this week, just checking prices on Eyeglass frames and lenses. I know I was lead there by the Spirit of God, they was so nice, very professional, treated with me kindness, as I was a regular patient. Praise God! They filled my prescription, I didn't have to look no farther. I would recommend them to my friends.

I’ve been to MANY of the place on island, and none of them even come close to the care I received by Dr. Johnson. After having many others fail to get my prescription right, Dr. Johnson discovered my Astigmatism and corrected my lenses. I’ve never seen clearer! Highest quality of care here and would definitely recommend to everyone!

Dr. Johnson and his staff were very warm and welcoming yet professional. My daughter and I both had appointments and needed glasses prescriptions as well, I wasn’t even planning on getting glasses there (because I didn’t realize they sold them). They didn’t rush us or push for the hard sell. We will be patients here for a long time.

Not a good clinic for small children. They claim to work with kids but obviously have no idea how to work with the littlest ones. The doctor and assistant had no clue how to speak to a 2 or 3 year old and became frustrated and impatient when she responded like a 2.5 year old (she was perfectly behaved).
My daughter has a +7 and the doc held up cloudy lenses to MY eyes (while wearing my NEAR sighted glasses) to show me that "see she probably won't wear these glasses anyway) to talk me out of wanting vision correction for her. After going home to read, I learned that she is at risk of cross eye

Highway robbery. Basic eye exam costed me $172 after insurance. $308 pre insurance. Never going back there again. Going back to my regular eye Dr that only charged me $40 after insurance. I can not afford this bill and would of absolutely not have wasted my time if I'd of known the prices.

Dr. Johnson was absolutely astonishing! He was very kind, made sure to smile, and appear as someone who can help. It was so astonishing that Dr. Johnson charged me $90 for 5 minutes of his time and information I had already found on google. I explained to Dr. Johnson that I have been trying these methods to get rid of my eye issues for months now and need more help. He insisted that I keep trying these methods and see him again in a month. A joke. For nearly $100 I did not receive anything helpful other than a lesson to never fall victim to such a well organized scam again. I did not receive a

Terrible! Completely incorrect prescription, told me they were in network and they weren't so I got a huge bill after this. I was early for my appointment and waited over an hour after my scheduled time to be seen. They cancelled two follow up appointments I had to make to try to get the prescription corrected. So I ended up a few hundred in the hole with nothing to show, 3 missed days of work, and an expensive pair of glasses I can't use. Here I am a year later and an employee was nice enough to schedule me a month ago to finally get rechecked for them to fix their mistake...guess what, they didn
