Harvard University Medical School, Cambridge, MA: Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry/Assistant Attending Psychologist. For 30 years I've worked with hundreds of individuals, couples and families wrestling with personal and professional challenges. My clients say they find me warm, non-judgmental, and easy to talk to.

I tend to be a more active and engaged therapist. My style and personality is informal and accessible, yet professional. To stay current with the latest approaches and to provide the best quality help, I regularly pursue continuing education and consultation with expert professionals in the field. I have published articles about stress, pain, aging and attitude change.
Services
My clients often say that making the initial call to me was a big step that they contemplated for some time. It requires courage to seek help and it's vital you find a trustworthy ally with whom you feel a good connection. I have enormous respect for my clients and provide them the opportunity to voice their feelings and receive support in a confidential, non-judgmental setting.
I help rebuild and fortify relationships by focusing on your strengths, appreciating what is strong rather than solely on what is wrong. Relationships can get stuck in demoralizing negative patterns that reflect the assumptions and expectations we have about each other. I work with you to slow down and parse how your histories and current interpretations of each other impact how you react and behave.
Discernment Counselling (DC) helps if you and your partner are considering divorce but aren't completely sure. It's a chance to slow down and look carefully at your options, particularly if one of you is "leaning out" of the relationship, not sure regular marriage counseling would help, and the other is "leaning in, " interested in rebuilding the marriage.
CBT-I is a six to eight-session program that identifies and alters thought and behavior patterns that prevent restful sleep. Studies show CBT-I is more effective than medication and can be used in combination with sleeping pills to help decrease and eliminate your dependence on them. Mindfulness helps you cultivate and increase your ability to relax your mind and body and to not feel overly reactive or overwhelmed.
I am an out-of-network provider for most insurances but if your insurance card says "POS" or "PPO", your plan may reimburse some cost of the session, sometimes 70% - 80%. Please contact your insurance company to see whether you have out-of-network coverage before we meet at our first session. Ask whether and how much the insurance company will reimburse for "procedure codes 90791 and 90834 for out-of-network providers".
