Integrative psychiatry is the art or practice of combining the best of conventional psychiatry (diagnosis, medication, and psychotherapy/talk therapies) with the best of evidence-based holistic and alternative modalities to produce healing and wellness. This offers better mental health care and overall wellness because the whole person is evaluated on the basis of Body-Mind-Spirit state.
Integrative medicine is geared to try to find the root causes of symptoms. The emphasis is on safety and science. Conventional approaches to psychiatry focus on suppressing symptoms with medication rather than targeting the underlying reasons for a person's mental health issues. I incorporate safer, effective and newer treatments.

If you're just looking for pharmaceuticals and not open to alternative options, Dr Tisler is not for you. I can't speak for others experiences but overall she has been very softspoken yet firm and compassionate and mostly accessible when needed. The extra cost has been worth it to me because I have been able to set up "escape hatches" that I can use before I need to resort to xanax. Now, I almost never need it. I also now understand why herbal medicine is such a thing now. I was a bit skeptical but I can attest to their efficacy. Plus, she's a good listener and makes notes like crazy when talking

I first came to Dr. Tisler after my primary care doc prescribed me meds that were not working, about 4 years ago. She is not like other doctors in that she doesn't shove medications down your throat. Most docs will throw an SSRI at you and call it a day, whereas Dr. Tisler will listen when you say you dislike the side effects of SSRIs and give you an alternative option instead. While she does prescribe me medications for my anxiety, they are the drugs that I prefer to take, and we have a plan for me to be completely off of prescription meds eventually. Her holistic approach includes blood tests

I called the urgent number because I had an extremely urgent problem. After explaining the details, Dr. Tisler said, "Oh wow!", due to how bad the situation was. At the very moment I thought she would help, she did the opposite.
She told me about a conference call she was going to take with doctors in NYC and that she needed to end the call with me. I couldn't believe her lack of even the slightest empathy or compassion. There wasn't even an offer to call me back to try to fit me into her schedule and I know for a fact these doctors always have ways to do that. Instead she wanted to try to make

Moved to NY and was having trouble finding a Dr. I had run out of my Bipolar medication and dealing with the loss of my Mother when I booked an appointment with Dr. Tisler. She called me a few days before the appointment to let me know she had double booked my appointment and could not see me until the end of the month. I asked her how she could cancel the appointment of someone suffering a loss and needing medication to which she informed me she was not an emergency room. Excuse me for expecting to see a Dr. the day that I make the appointment and take off of work to go see. Do not look to her

Very mean doctor. I am a student, and wanted to shadow her. I was very nice and was fascinated with her work. She has sent me the nastiest email. I am a naturopathic medical student, and she literally was so nasty to me and she doens't know me! I would never recommend anyone to her. For someone who is a psychiatrist, she has a nasty attitude.
