The Kentucky Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association ("KLHIGA") welcomes you to our Web site. The purpose of this site is to provide individuals residing in Kentucky who own life insurance, accident and health insurance and annuity contracts information regarding the protection afforded them by KLHIGA in the event of the insolvency of the life insurance company which provided their insurance.
Services
All insurance companies classified as life insurance companies and licensed to sell life insurance, accident and health insurance and annuity contracts in Kentucky are required by law to be members of KLHIGA (Member Insurers) and as such are subject to assessments of funds as the need arises to carry out the purposes of its governing law (Act').
In most cases, a guaranty association will continue coverage as long as premiums are paid or cash value exists. It may do this directly, or, most often, it may transfer the policy to another insurance company. In any case, policyholders should continue making premium payments to keep their coverage in force.
