Dr. Akel is a native of Florida. He attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fl and graduated in 2002 with his Bachelor's degree in Arts & Sciences. Dr. Akel later attended Nova Southeastern University Dental School in Fort Lauderdale Florida and graduated in 2006. Dr. Akel is trained in all aspects of General Dentistry and is continually striving to offer the most current and beneficial services and techniques available.

I would not go to this dentist unless you want to end up looking like you had been beaten up like I did. He was so rough my face was black and blue afterwards for over a week. I wish there was a way to post the pictures on here. I had read several negative reviews but he was the only dentist on my insurance close by so I still went to him. I regret it. I was so sore, swollen and bruised afterwards. I have never had this problem after any dentist procedures before.

Leaving this practice was the best heatlh care decision I made in 2021. Not only did I find out that I didn't need deep cleanings, but my new hygienist had zero issues getting my teeth sparkling clean and caused me zero pain. I didn't realize the extent of the trauma caused by the cleanings until I left. This practice taught me to fear cleanings and I never feared going to the dentist previously. It is my sincerest wish that no one ends in the same position. Also, be aware that when I decided to leave, that is when they presented me with a bill that was over a year old. I think that says all. Akel is just after the money. I've been to several dentist over the years. I've never had a problem with my gums. During my exam they pushed so deep while measuring my gums that they bleed. My teeth don't normally bleed and I floss all the time. So then they tell me my gum readings measurements are bad and that I need to schedule deep cleaning of my teeth every few months. I told them my feelings about the improper exam so the dentist changed the cleanings to fewer times per year. What a rip off. I never went back.

I’ve always been afraid to go to the dentist, for over 40 years…. I had over 6 top front teeth ( my smile ) all teeth bad…because of my fear I waited till they hurt.
I walked in here dreadful and figured I needed dentures….. I was tearing up….I’m not even 50 yet…Not only was the staff warm and compassionate….. I walked out with every tooth fixed….. I HAVE MY SMILE

Very professional and accommodating by far the best dental hygienist there ever. I’ve never in my 59 years have had such a thorough awesome cleaning!!!!! She’s the best & my teeth Have never felt better, & I still have ALL my own teeth!! Friendly staff. Waiting room a little small & sometimes the wait time is long, but good things come to those who wait. I’d highly recommend them & their work speaks for itself!!!!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Good Reviews usually come from friends and family either via Dr or staff, Bad Reviews in this Particular field is legitimate. As in going to this office I can offer this Review The woman in the front lacks common sense, Agues with the customers, slams things on her desk. Went in the back for a xray and that woman decided texting was more… important. The Dr came in looked at the xray said what needed to be done and walked out of the room before I could ask any questions. Be very careful they also charge for things they do not do. Do yourselves a favor and find a Professional office unfortunately

When you pay a higher price for service you expect 3 things, 1. Quality he delivered a good product, but it did not fit and never having had dentures I did not know what to expect. I was handed them with a baggie with some sample adhesive cream but no instructions or guidance or expectations. And wearing them made me feel like Mr. Ed. 2. I had the pleasure of starting care at Akel Dental this morning. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful. They got me in quickly, spent time working through my insurance, and made sure everything was set. The dental assistant was efficient, explained everything, and made the experience comfortable. The facility is modern and clean. Dr. Akel was knowledgable and personable. I immediately felt confident in his recommendations. Best part is that they explained the plan of care fully and broke down all the costs. They were open and forthcoming about the financial commitment - a refreshing change

So far everyone here is good. My only thing is years ago I had to get a crown (in another city) it stayed for 23 years. Then getting a new crown from Akel I was happy with the crown but yesterday after only about 2 years it fell out again . Why can't anyone make it stay like I had before? Something has to be done.

I have never had to make such a drastic alteration of review. After leaving my initial excellent review, I found that things went downhill with the next appointments. I was upsold on many things I didn't need and that it turned out later my good insurance covered none of (deep cleanings, etc.). I tried to resolve and was met with rudeness and conflicting answers by staff. Also, I hardly ever saw the dentist himself. He was training one girl and while she was nice and apologetic about having trouble with the procedure, something with the string she was using, I couldn't understand why

If I could give one star I would. They repaired a chip in my sons front tooth. It fell out three days later while he was drinking water. They proceeded to tell me they couldn't fix for a month. I made them take him sooner. After the second repair, it fell out 2 hours later.... I had to have a family member take him back for a third time , and now the same day so it was fixed before his first day of high school. They gave us till 4:15. My son was there by 4, and they still took in several other patients and made him and my family wait till 4:30. So I called and made it known that was unfair

Sorry, not so good. My son went for a cleaning every six months for a year and a half and we were told no cavities. On the third visit, we were told he needed a root canal and crown. Don't know how it could have been that decayed in 6 months. I could understand a cavity, but not root canal. They tried to play it off that they told me 2 prior visits… ago, but if they did, then why did he get a clean bill 6 months after that? Thinking maybe they let some cavities go longer to make more money on root canals and crowns. Shameful. And the dentist is not friendly at all. Does not speak to the
