She co-founded the firm in 2011, with the goal of providing skilled and compassionate service to family law clients in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara County, and the Central Coast. Stephen Wagner is a partner at Comstock & Wagner and has devoted his entire legal career to the practice of California Family Law.
Attorney Marie Comstock is the managing partner of Comstock and Wagner. She co-founded the firm in 2011, with the goal of providing skilled and compassionate service to family law clients in Santa Maria, Santa Barbara County, and the Central Coast. Prior to becoming an attorney, Marie was a professor and department chair of the Business Department at Allan Hancock College.
Attorney Stephen A. (Steve) Wagner is a partner at Comstock & Wagner and has devoted his entire legal career to the practice of California Family Law. Steve is a California board-certified family law specialist and, in addition to his family law practice, he has taught family law at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria since 2012, and helped found the paralegal education program there.

Stephen Wagner has been our attorney since 2017. We have unfortunately been to court many times for different reasons/circumstances, so it’s be a roller coaster of a family law/custody case. Since day one when my husband and I retained him, he has been honest and forthcoming about what to expect and how to handle any and all situations that have arisen. All I can say is do NOT waste one penny or one minute here. Stephen Wagner basically let the opposing attorney walk all over me and do whatever she wanted. He let his paralegal play "lawyer" and try to do all the work while I paid him top dollar for less than mediocre. EPIC FAIL! I now have a new attorney who is trying to do damage control after the mess created with Stephen Wagner. What a complete nightmare. I'm pretty sure I put in way more time and effort than Stephen. I wish I could have read something like this and saved myself a ton of money, stress and heartache! Can I give zero stars?!

I contacted Stephen Wagner when it seemed like my prior attorney was dismissive of the more complex facts in my case. Mr. Wagner believed in me, listened to everything I had to say, and he knew how to present my case including his extensive knowledge and citing of case law. Mr. Wagner and Mr. Vergara are fantastic. I was going through a very dark time in my life during my custody battle with my (now ex) wife. I had never used a lawyer before, and was a bit nervous before meeting one. However, after meeting Mr. Wagner I immediately felt at ease. He explained the whole process to me and handled my case quickly and aggressively. I now have primary custody of my son and could not be more thankful!
