To provide a safe environment for our patients and staff, we are offering telemedicine appointments and have modified office operations to allow for remote work. Although our clinical operations have been modified, rest assured that Dr. Patterson and our staff are working diligently to continue to process your prescription requests, lab draw requests, imaging requests and to provide telephone support regarding medical concerns.

We will continue to support your weight loss, post-op needs and pre-op progress by offering telemedicine visits for many appointments. We are currently offering in-person visits on Tuesdays only and telemedicine appointments additional days of the week. Please contact our office prior to delivering items to our clinic to confirm that we have staff available to assist you.

Our Surgical Program Coordinators will submit your pre-surgical work-up to your insurance company for prior authorization. Upon insurance approval, you will be contacted to select your surgery date. We offer weight loss procedures at Wilshire Surgery Center. While scheduling your surgery, you will also schedule two additional visits.
Studies show that long-term follow-up is essential to maintaining permanent weight loss. With the help of our bariatric team and specialized follow-up care, we provide you with the practioners, tools and support needed to maintain a successful weight loss future. Your post-surgery follow-up will begin 3-4 weeks after surgery.
Generally, bariatric surgery candidate is one who meets the National Institute of Health's (NIH) recommended criteria. To have bariatric surgery covered by your medical insurance, most companies require that patient meet the NIH criteria. Although the NIH and FDA have set guidelines for the bariatric candidate, patients can still pursue a procedure if they fall outside the guidelines.
Millions of Americans and people worldwide are overweight or obese. The terms "overweight" and "obese" refer to a person's overall body weight. To be overweight is to have extra body weight from muscle, bone, fat, and/or water. To be obese is to have a higher amount of extra body fat in comparison to muscle, bone, and water weights.

Excellent results. Referred a friend who is also experiencing great results. Proper expectations, potential complications, etc were well communicated by Dr Patterson. Staff can sometimes be a tad slow to respond but everyone is during covid. Dr P is very self confident - likely because she knows her trade, has more experience than most if not all other bariatric surgeons in PDX, and is well respected in the area (I've other physicians speak highly of her.) Her post surgery plan was far superior to the one provide to others I know who got surgery elsewhere. I don't want a self-doubting, hand holding

Had gastric sleeve surgery June 2nd 2021. So far so good. I’ve felt fantastic since. Losing weight nicely.
Dr Patterson doesn’t sugar coat things so don’t expect to be coddled! She sure did shine on surgery day! I felt like she was all smiles and ready to do this! The staff is organized and guides you through every step of the way.
If you’re considering weight loss surgery I strongly recommend this competent surgeon. You won’t be sorry. She knows what’s she’s doing!

Every step of the weight loss surgery process has been handled with such care and compassion! Every appointment was easily scheduled. Dr. Patterson is a great communicator! I knew everything I needed to get done (bloodwork, ECG, nutritionist appointment, psych evaluation.) and not only did we talk about it but I got everything in writing too! Great for reviewing later or using to check items off. I felt completely at ease and well educated during the process. Best decision I ever made and with the perfect group! Thank you OWLS for helping me become a new me!

I read horrible reviews about Dr. Paterson but decided to overlook them because I thought people just didn't want to participate in the program, boy was I wrong ! I payed a lot of money out of pocket for her to get mad about how I was holding her dog that she had with her at the appointment and drop me from the program at my pre-op appointment ! After calling a few other surgery centers today to see what my options are I found out she is under review for her behaviors and has done this to a lot of people. I am waiting right for a call about a class action lawsuit.

I'm 3 months post operative for gastric sleeve and I'm just thrilled with my results and my experience with Dr. Patterson and her practice. Dr. Patterson is very thorough. She is a straight shooter and doesn't mence words or sugar coat the process of pre and post operative. She provides every tool possible to help her patients. I had a wonderful experience at the surgical center and felt like I got the best care. Dr. Patterson is a wonderful doctor and has given me exceptional care. I had to pay out of pocket for the entire procedure and I think it's the best decision I've ever made. I had the

Dr. Patterson is the best surgeon hands down. She's smart, knows what she's doing and tells it like it is, very straightforward. I couldn't have gotten a better surgeon. Highly recommend seeing her not just for weight loss surgery but, gallbladder surgery, hernias and any other abdominal procedures you might need done.
