Dr. Brendan McCarthy founded Protea Medical Center in 2006. In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Protea has grown and evolved into a dynamic medical center serving not only the Phoenix Valley, but also central Arizona. We believe testing is crucial to determine the actual hormone levels of each woman. We assess hormone levels as well as nutritional status to determine function of the adrenal glands, thyroid gland, blood sugar handling, digestion, and many other health issues. These tests can be done at our office or at a laboratory near you.

I usually don't rate higher than four stars for medical because realistically medical can be messy between billing and insurance and pharmacy communication. The reason I did five stars is because this is a rare facility that LISTENS. I could rave that pretty much everyone I know goes here and has been helped, but the one that is most meaningful is my daughter. She suddenly changed and it was confusing. Apathetic about school and severely depressed. There was something preventing her from being herself. Instead of just giving her anti-depressants I asked him to do testing just in case it was

I've been going to Dr Warren and Dr Glenicky for the past several years with great results. Their Protea Vitamin shot is amazing! Recently I came down with a virus that was going around my office and it turned into a severe case of bronchitis. I truly can not say enough great things about Dr. Warren! Coming from a dr office that was always 1 hour plus late seeing me past my appointment time then rushing through my visits not listening to a word I was saying I finally had enough. It was meant to be because I know have Dr. Warren, she is always on time and takes her time explaining everything in detail so I better get understand the disaster that is my body lol So far I feel the best I've felt in years but I still have a ways to go. My husband and I have been going here for several years and Dr. McCarthy and Dr. Warren are excellent! They are very thorough. They go over so many different indicators for full bloodwork, explaining each one, the normal ranges, where I'm at, the causes and if it's off, whether we should do something about it. They ask about lifestyle, energy, libido, stress level and they care about your answers. I feel so much better since before I started coming here! Hormones are the key to this life, I'm convinced! I saw "Dr." Brendan McCarthy about leveling my hormones due to some issues with my metabolism. He decided to "start from scratch" and reset my hormones using HCG shots. These would make me lose between 1-2 pounds a day. He told me this would assist with resetting my body, and that losing weight was not the goal, but the "road to solution." He put me on a strict diet of around 500 calories a day (incredibly unhealthy and dangerous).

Referred by a friend, I went to Dr. Warren at Protea Medical Center. My first visit with her was awesome! I felt heard, understood and like I had a medical advocate on my side - FINALLY. Initially I went to Dr. Warren because I had multiple sinus infections, lethargy, irregular periods, weight gain, was trying to get off anxiety meds and a list of other problems.
The fact that they're not covered by insurance didn't matter to me as I was willing to pay whatever it cost to finally feel better.

I highly recommend this place! They have the nicest front desk staff, especially Marissa and Anna. They helped answer any and all questions I had and made sure to clear up any confusion. Nicest front desk I've ever encountered at any doctors office. Darelyn and Stephanie are always on point too and very comforting when giving shots. Their office manager is also very nice and attentive. I give this place an 11/10!

5 stars isn't enough. I couldn't recommend Protea Medical Center more. The guidance of Dr. McCarthy and his staff is the reason for my over 35lb weight loss and 8% fat loss (and still going) in 7 months, at age 40.
The combination of weight loss and testosterone therapy have me feeling better than I could have imagined. My energy levels are as high as ever and athletic performance is as good or better than when I played college hockey.
