The Pain & Wellness Center is among the first facilities in the country to adopt "Integrative Pain Therapy, " by combining established and interventional pain management modalities with alternative treatments. With our multidisciplinary team of pain specialists, the Pain & Wellness Center merges the most technically advanced medical treatments with those practiced for thousands of years in Eastern medicine, as well as traditional acupuncture, laser acupuncture, chiropractic care, massage and physical therapy.
Services
Pain & Wellness Center patients enjoy the distinct advantage of being able to access a comprehensive range of treatment options under one roof. Rather than waiting for medical records to be sent from facility to facility or communicate by phone and fax, discussions about our patients' conditions require our staff to simply walk a few steps around the Center and consult with each other.
The Pain and Wellness Center is pleased to provide the following medical animations which are helpful in explaining many of the conditions that we treat at the Pain and Wellness Center, as well as providing informative descriptions of the various procedures we perform both at our center and at the hospital.
Certain pain medications are controlled substances and cannot be called in by law. We also want to evaluate patients on a regular basis to ensure that their medications are working appropriately and without side effects. According to Massachusetts's law, a 30-day prescription is the maximum amount that can be prescribed per prescription for many controlled substances.
In the course of a massage, the therapist will probably find areas of tenderness or pain. The level of pain will depend entirely on the therapist's techniques. Receiving massage strokes in tender areas often creates a very satisfying sensation of "good pain."
If, however, a client has to hold their breath, furrow their brow, or tense their body to endure the pain, they need to ask the therapist to decrease the pressure or try a different technique.Severe pain triggers the release of stress hormones into the bloodstream, which is hardly the goal of massage therapy.

That depends on the condition being treated. Long-standing conditions generally take longer to heal than more recent conditions. For chronic pain and musculoskeletal problems we may start by treating you once or twice a week for 3 to 4 weeks and adjust the frequency of treatment as improvement occurs.

Great experience! Friendly and polite staff. It’s only been 24 hrs. I’ll report back in a few weeks on the results. So far I’d recommend it to anyone in back-pain based on the fact it was a pain free procedure. If your mildly tolerant of discomfort you definitely don’t need it but they do offer a mild sedation..I believe they have naproxen's kicking around as well for the ride home. But I’m not 100% certain on that one.
