I have been taking my car to Chuck's Auto for almost 25 years. He has always been honest, upfront and let's me know what he would do if it was his own vehicle. They ALWAYS call you prior to performing any of the work and give you an estimate of the charges. They will also help you prioritize things in order of importance if the cost exceeds what you want/can spend at that time. Elissa is wonderful and has offered in the past to run my husband up to work in lieu of him walking since his employer is close to downtown. I would highly recommend them!

Chucks is one of the best local and family-owned garages in Grand Rapids. They work on a first come first serve basis and have never had a problem getting my car in and getting it repaired correctly at a good cost (definitely compared to the high price of others in the area), and it's always been done in a timely manner. Would recommend to all, and going back for all my auto repair needs.

I called Chuck's to have a simple ten minute repair done, it was literally putting a bolt on my car--that's it. The woman who answered the phone was incredibly rude, she refused to give me any options as to when I could get the work done and since they don't take appointments told me she couldn't get me in for a week. When I asked if there was anyway I could possibly drop off my car first thing in the morning or right before they closed (since I live in the area and could walk back to work) the next day so that I could get my car in their line, she told me no, too bad, take Friday or nothing. My car was making a weird noise, and I was driving to see family in a few days. This place got my car fixed DAY OF!! They're so kind and there's no bs with it!! Very frank and reliable. I just moved here to GR and I heard good things about this place. I will definitely be going here for any problems I may have in the future.

Your making a mistake if you go here. I do not believe these reviews are legitimate. Be aware.
I recommend you move your car elsewhere before they start doing work on your car without consent. Charging you quadruple for parts, and leaving halfway through their work day every day becuase they don’t have “too much work” even though your car is sitting there unfinished.

If you go here, you are asking to get ripped off. They will act all honest and nice and tell you you need to replace XYZ on your car when you only need to replace one part.
You are better off going straight to the dealership they will be honest, get the job done right, and sure make you pay for it in labor cost. But they will not charge you 3x on parts cost!

I would not recommend this shop to anyone or anything, save your time and money and go to Christians auto repair instead. Or honestly you might even save money going to a Murray’s.
Almost 3x charge on parts for vehicle, fixing items that do not need to be repaired. I have been a mechanic for 35 years and recently had back surgery and can’t work on my cars so I’d figure I’d give a local a shot.

Chuck was supposed to do a simple oil change for me but he noticed some major issues that my car needed fixed. He called me prior to doing the work and got my approval before doing the work. He charged me a very fair price and was very nice. He also got everything done within a reasonable time. I would highly recommend chucks auto!! He’s the most reasonable mechanic I’ve been to in GR.

Chuck and his team will take good care of you. The radiator in my 2004 Pontiac Vibe needed changed. Before going to Chucks, my car was inspected at another shop. I spent $136 alone just for said shop to find all the leaks and, I didn't make this up, their estimate was $1400!
I immediately called Chuck and he was astonished. He took care of me for $334 PLUS changed a headlight without charge.
