Services
Downtown BP is part of the Automotive Ventures Group owned by Dave Kroona and Tony Rammer. Since the 1970's, Automotive Ventures Group has engineered a gradual growth of well timed acquisitions to serve the majority of the twin cities area. Downtown BP offers gas, a convenience store, and auto repair shop.
Without exception the most important safety issue on your vehicle is your brakes! With even the slightest indication of a brake problem, having your brakes inspected by a professional automotive technician is the right thing to do. Early diagnosis of a minor brake issue "before" the problem gets more serious can save you hundreds of dollars.
Nothing creates more driver "now what" concern that the check engine light suddenly appearing on your vehicles dash. This warning light can mean something as simple as a loose gas cap, all the way to major engine issues. Many auto parts stores and repair facilities will offer free check engine light diagnosis.
Your vehicle's engine creates a lot of heat when running and requires constant cooling to operate normally and avoid engine damage. The cooling normally occurs with a mixture of water and antifreeze circulating through the engine. The antifreeze/water mixture is cooled as it is pumped through the radiator before returning to the engine.
Other than our regular oil changes, most of us never have to think about the engine in our car, SUV or pick-up. We just slide in, fasten our seat belt, turn the key, and our vehicle is running. If you are experiencing any of these engine trouble signs, it is time to schedule a check up for your vehicle.

Usually the cheapest rates around AND they do a great job! Usually have coupons too to make it even cheaper! Very flexible hours, good availability, & fast service. Drop ins allowed for minor repairs. Unbeatable good customer service- they even came to their parking lot area to change my headlight where I had parked and was in process of getting my baby out of the car. They changed my headlight right there rather than do the repair in the garage so it was easier for me. Told me next time to just pull up to the garage so that I didn't even have to move my baby and they'd do the repair

This place is a f..ken rip of. The tow was $93 for less than 1/2 a mile, which I'm OK with at least. When I picked up my car and after paying for the tow fee, Joe (tech), told the cashier to charge me extra $40 for charging my car battery and than walked away before I can ask question. Even the cashier reacted weirdly/ her reaction was what? It will be a first and last vist to this money hauging shop. Residents of Downtown St. Paul take note about having mechanic service here. You will get charge the un-necessary fee.

They were having a customer appreciation day and changed my oil on my 98 honda civic for $5. But I later realized that they were careless and spilled oil over my engine. It's frustrating because my car is already so old and this made it worse. Again their mechanics are careless and slow.

Wooooo!!! Gotta love BP even if they do t give me the free tires like the post says. They have friendly cashiers. Calls me buddy and pal with a smile. Most places just say is that all. And push me out the door.

I operate a commercial vehicle and I have a mechanic that gives me exceptional service. I've been looking for a backup to my primary mechanic. I came here on a busy morning and they told me they could fit me in and get my car done by a certain time. They did just that, which was necessary because I had a flight landing. Dennis was the one that helped facilitate my service. The only little thing I noticed, was that my car smelled strongly of dirty greasy boy. I wiped down the inside and sprayed an oil based fragrance and all was good in the hood. I have a regular customer that uses this shop

Kinda creepy location, but close to the highway. Which also means higher prices. If course, it's still cheaper than Southern California prices. .. so I can't complain. It's also not as nice as most BPs, unfortunately. You're trading convenience for higher prices and higher creepy factor. What can ya do.
