Tim Canevari started working with Genova Bakery during high school. In 2004, he took over as owner of the business and has continued to evolve Genova Bakery's legacy, carrying the vision Angelo Rolleri imagined over 100 years ago.

Everything about this place was on fire, as in earth shattering good. The sandwiches were the best I've ever had. The cannolis were crazy good. The nougat. The salads. The persimmons. The pasta. We were overwhelmed by how delicious everything was and how much it reminded us of our immigrant grandparents' kitchen. LOVED IT!

Genova, Genova, Genova! I've been enjoying bread and cold cuts from here since I was a child. This quaint little deli is frozen in time tucked away in a very old residential neighborhood. They have the best bread hands down. The Genova soft is my favorite but their milk bread is also very delicious. All the meats are sliced on the spot and fresh. Sandwiches are a must! The sausage is fabulous we love to get it for breakfast or dinner. I can't say enough good things about this place!

I loved this place! It was so cute and old fashioned, located on a street corner. The atmosphere gave me warm feelings and the man behind the counter was so sweet! One of the ladies seemed grumpy but overall the service was excellent. The sandwiches were bomb and don't get me started on their bread! They make some of the best bread ever!!! What a true gem in Stockton.

I always found Genova bread to be a little gem in stockton , more specifically a little diamond in the rough because it really is in a rough neighborhood. Don't let the location dissuade you though, once you find parking on the street you will not be disappointed in the flavorful meats, breads and products stored within. I have been coming here since childhood and I am so happy that they have never once discriminated against non-english speakers such as the many fellow church goers that we refer here. The sandwiches are an item that I have yet to try but as far as their bread goes it is amazing

Not much to add that hasn't already been said. The bread is simply awesome. The deli meat cuts and flavor are great as well. The shop has the small 'corner store' feeling from back in the day. Staff is very friendly and enjoyable. The way they make the sandwiches is top notch. They do not get stingy at all. You won't be hungry or disappointed. The pickles are tasty so I would try that if I were you. There is much I still have to try and can't wait till I do.
Tip: get there before the 12 lunch rush. They do phone orders and get busy quick.

I've been going to Genova Bakery since I was a kid. My grandma would give me money and send me to go buy a loaf of their amazing bread. Walking by in the early early morning you smell the bread cooking, it's awesome. The sandwiches are just as good. All fresh cut meat, fresh bread, you cannot go wrong. We always buy sandwich meat here anytime we go out of town for camping or just a day trip. The people there are always so polite and happy, you can tell the enjoy their job. Genova bakery is part of Stockton's history, a must see for sure. 5 stars isn't enough.

Go early, get some fresh bread and butter , done son! What ever bread you need. Sour dough, dinner rolls, Brioches, Chibata and so many more.
The bread is just the start. The star here is simple... Sandwiches!

This has been an iconic Bakery for decades. I can remember going here as a kid with my family (circa 1970). The bread they make is as good as it gets.
They also make excellent sandwiches at their deli. They have lots of choices, but my absolute favorite is their salami and cheese on a milk bread roll. Delicious!
They also sell pasta and other supplies in their store.
This is definitely a Stockton gem and worth visiting every chance you get.

I LOVED this place in Oakland but it closed.. I wonder if this business is related. The only other Genova location was Walnut Creek.
Nevertheless, the sandwich was fresh, fulfilling, and greatly priced. Macaroni salad was good but the club med pasta salad was IT (pasta shells/sun dried tomatoes/pesto/olives/cheese)!!!
They have fresh jalapeño bread on Fridays only.

Great place to pick up all those items you need for a small gathering or a large party. Delicious loaves of bread and a very large selection of meats and cheeses are available to choose from. The personnel are all friendly and helpful. My family has been going here for years and we still enjoy their fare. I highly recommend this establishment for parties or just to go pick up a delicious lunch! A Stockton treasure!

This place is such a Treasure!!!! Like a fine wine they seem to get better and better with age. Look if you live in Stockton you probably already know, if you're just passing thru and looking for a good lunch alternative to fast food this is where you want to go. It's small, it's family owned and operated, and been in business for over 100 years. One sandwich will change your life, it did ours. We now compare every sandwich we eat(out of town)and nothing has come close to stacking up.
I should mention the service, as always it was outstanding. The staff is super, super friendly

This local establishment has been a landmark business in Stockton for years. Generations have grown up going to this place and it has all its original store decor since opening. This store opened in 1897 and is a local favorite for fresh bread and sandwiches with quality meats and cheeses. They still have the posts out front to tie your horse up! I forgot to take a picture of that but I'll try to remember to do so in my next trip. If you are ever looking for an original long standing local fresh bakery to get bread from this is it. They have many interesting imported Italian items for sale

They were recently featured on KCRA, having been in an article in Esquire Magazine called "The 100 restaurants we can't afford to lose to Covid -19." I agree totally. They've been around for well over 100 years.
If you want a sandwich, you fill out a little paper with what you want, and just hand it to the sandwich makers. I'm not sure if you can call your order in ahead of time. I had salami, proscuitto
