Many campgrounds will place you on a very small site, with little space available to relax outside your camper. Our sites are quiet and spacious, featuring beautiful views of the surrounding countryside that few other campgrounds near Pittsburgh can offer.

Services
The Mix brothers, Steve and Greg, grew up in a family where summer vacations weren't spent at Disney World or the beach. Instead, we were at a cottage on the Allegheny River or on a 30-mile backpacking trip. Most of our trips centered on our family and the outdoors. Some of our greatest memories are from campgrounds all over the country.
If you want to go to a campground with a swimming pool, a bingo game, and an ice cream social, then we probably are not your ideal campground. There are wonderful campgrounds in the area who offer that type of experience. However, if you are looking for a campground that offers quiet moments around a fire, beautiful sunsets, and a peaceful walk through the woods, then you should probably make a reservation today.
Mountain Top Campground is located at 873 Sun Mine Road, Tarentum, PA, in beautiful southwestern Pennsylvania, surrounded by tree-covered hills, farm fields, and small communities. But we're also just 5 miles from the nearest highway, and only 30 minutes northeast of downtown Pittsburgh. From here, you can easily access everything the greater Pittsburgh area has to offer in activities, entertainment, dining, and sports.

This campground is beautiful and very well maintained. The owners are very friendly and courteous. We had tire trouble on the way to the campground and they gave us recommendations and directions on where to get new tires in the area. They were very accommodating so we could spend an extra night there. Would definitely stay there again.

Extremely well-kept facilities. Beautiful location fulfilling its name with many campsites having views of the valley. Fields attract dozens of Killdeer. Lots of mourning doves goldfinches and other birds as well. The family running the campground is friendly and helpful. It is close to a great rail trail and has easy access to downtown Pittsburgh.

Definitely for self-contained RVs! One (very nice) bathroom for any/everyonewithout a bathroom in your RV, coin operated shower ($2 for 7 minutes) to cover septic service, which makes sense, but be prepared with singles for tokens! We weren't, so we had to get creative with showering (wish we had known to bring more....) 🙂 Gorgeous scenery, and well maintained grounds. Very nice campground

As full timers we see a wide variety of campgrounds and Mountain Top Campground is an incredible family owned facility. The campground is extremely well kept and the owners entire family hospitality is infectious. Close to the city but you’d never know by the beautiful rural setting. We will be staying here any time we’re back in Pittsburg!

This was more of an experiment staying at Mountain Top as we live ten minutes away. We have two very young golden retrievers and this was their first camping trip. I would say it went "alright" but one of them was bladder shy and both of them barked at other dogs. We also discovered that you simply cannot travel comfortably with two larger dogs and two children in a truck. Luckily, again, this was a ten minute ride to and from home. Ok, on to the campground. The road in is a little treacherous, thin at times and a slightly stew winding incline on the way in. There are signs, so it was easy to find

This place is perfection! If you like quiet and simple, this is your spot! The people running it are all so nice and helpful. You can tell they take pride in their work. An easy 25 minutes from the city on top of a gorgeous Mountain. This is our first time and if we ever come back to this area, this will DEFINITELY be our spot!
