This place is different! After watching the progress of the GAP Trail since its original days of formation, we wanted to give the adventurous long haul bikers something more than just a spot along the river to pitch a tent. We have been camping and enjoying the great outdoors ourselves for over 40 years.
So that is why we built GapTrail campground.designed for your COMFORT and to cater to only serious long haul bikers on the GAP. Come on in and enjoy everything we have for you! West Newton is a friendly and dynamic Trail Town with everything you need! We will treat you the way we would wanted to be treated as campers.and to provide you with some luxurious accommodations that you might not expect to find at a trail bikers only campground.

Services
We are a dedicated GAP Trail biker only campground. No vehicles are permitted at our campground. Our location is only 200 feet off the trail just 1/4 mile north of the GAP Trail headquarters building in West Newton. The campground is located right on the banks of the beautiful and historic Youghiogheny River.

Wow! Was not expecting this!
Four of us spent the last night of a 13 day GAP, C&O and Back again bike trip here. After 50+ miles that day this place was a more than pleasant and relaxing surprise. was expecting just another commercial campground. NOT
Definitely built for hiker bikers. Great tent set up areas down near the water. Posts and hooks in tent area and at pavilion for hammocks if that's your grove.
Pavilion and canopy tents set up for bad weather shelter if needed. Showers and bathrooms were way above expectations - "zen hobbit showers" is perfect description
