Ponderosa Campground and Cabins provide you with the beautiful combination of pine, aspen and cottonwood trees beside the Conejos River. We have 25 RV sites and 6 cabins. Four cabins have a bedroom, kitchen and bath. Two cabins have a kitchenette and sleeping accommodations. There is a small store, fly fishing supplies and licenses, laundry and clean restrooms.
Enjoy fishing, hiking, biking, jeeping, ATVing and hunting. The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Train can be boarded in Antonito, Colorado, or Chama, New Mexico. It is the highest and longest narrow-gauge railroad in the North American continent. Enjoy an authentic railroad trip that brings Colorado history to the present day.

Services
Going green: We encourage guests to bring their own linens (towels, sheets or sleeping bags, and pillowcases) for your stay in our cabins. We will provide linens for an additional fee. This allows us to reduce the use of water in the laundry and sewer systems. Pillows and blankets are provided in each cabin.

Love this park. We’ve visited at least 74 parks in the last 4 years and this is clearly now a favorite.
It’s small, right on a small river, lots of big trees, decent WiFi, clean restrooms, a park for the kids, and pleasant staff.
We stayed here 2 nights to ride the Cumbres- Toltec train out of Antonio (something else I highly recommend). We look forward to coming back to spend more time.

This campground was an absolute gem!! The peaceful river, spacious sites, and super friendly staff made our experience so nice! Not a bad site in the campground. Family and pet friendly. Enjoy large groups or couples solitude…. Ponderosa has it all. Clean showers and laundry facilities too. Will be back next year!!!

One of, if not THE, best campgrounds I have ever stayed at. Service was incredible, the owner was super friendly and kind and helped in any way he possibly could! The campground is beautiful and very quiet along with a lot of animal life. So peaceful and I was able to relax completely, all the neighbors were very kind and helpful, too. Clean and private restrooms and each campsite had a lot of space! Definitely will be going back again and staying for even longer next time. Thank you for your hospitality!
Respectfully, Angelo.

Overall, not very impressed. Just spent 6 nights there. Having hookups was nice, but had to buy an extra sewage hose (already had 2) because of the strange location of the sewage connection for my site. Also kinda weird that they ask you not to run your AC. ??? I didn’t need to, but.....
Fishing was decent in the property’s portion of the river, but, can be somewhat limited depending on the number of fishers. You are limited by private property both up and down steam.
The lady at the check in window (possibly the owner) came across as grumpy. Kinda like she didn’t want to be there. Friendly

We love this place! It's our quintessential Colorado camp ground! Sites that back up to the Conejos River. Excellent fly fishing river. Drive up into the San Juan Mountains on fdr250 , Platoro Reservoir. Ride the Train in Chama NM.
The hosts are super nice. Clean restroom and shower. Fishing License and supplies, Firewood, Ice sold on site.
Wifi close to office. County was installing fiber to site during our last stay so fast wifi most likely coming in the near future ;)

What a wonderful gem! We brought our entire family and 33ft camper for the Memorial Day weekend. The entire camp staff were extremely welcoming. Not a single bad camp spot on the property and beautiful views of the mountains and Canejos River right at the end of most of the spots and cabins!! We lucked out with some beautiful Rainbow and Brown trout while fly fishing throughout the day. We would become permanent camp residents if it weren't for stinkin' work. We'll be back as soon as we can. Thank you Ponderosa Campground ownership and staff! Well done.
