When he was a young man, Walter Knott worked the mines in Calico, an experience that stayed with him all his life. Some 40 years later he went back and bought the town. Some of the buildings that he moved to Buena Park, California, served as an attraction to bring people in to his wife's chicken restaurant.

I love this unique independently owned Barstow Hotel.
All of the amenities you could ask for.
A hot breakfast in the morning tea coffee in the room a microwave and a fridge oh, and they have a pool as well.
Right across from the Firehouse Italian restaurant too, yep, that's a bonus.
The team was amazing. I called room service and they had 2 extra pillows and a blanket in no time.
There was some confusion with the reservations because I booked through an off site travel agency, but the front desk worked it out.
We will never stay anywhere else, but the California Inn if we are in the area

The room #107 with 2 beds was spacious and quite clean with patio door looking on the outdoor pool and two statues with tables and chairs, which is a nice thing to have.
The weather was too hot though to enjoy patio, but swimming in the pool before the road was great for the body!
I took one star off for a little bug I found on my blanket. Brrr…
The price was good though, around $70.
Oh! And the Mexican food 1 min away on a car, Jenny’s grill, was outstanding! I’m definitely coming back!

Love it, plus the amenities. Love the fact that its inside & you need a key just to get into the building before getting to your room.(although I've locked myself out more than a few times😁🤦♀️) and we have our own private balcony. Staff is friendly except the maid on the top floor, she's very rude. I forgot her name.

Loved it! Compare to hotels like days inn or motel 6, that are similar in price, it was better! We were worried about what the area would be like since it’s off of Main Street but it was quiet and the rooms are spacious. The best part was the woman working the night shift at the front desk. We called about 4 times and she was super nice and friendly every time! and friendly and smiling when we got here! gets recognition because it’s hard to find people like this these days. The woman working the morning shift was also nice. Pool is big and they are pet friendly! Room kind of smelt like smoke
