At Jones Eye Care & Surgery, we offer the most advanced and comprehensive diagnostic, medical and surgical treatment for a wide range of vision problems. Some of our specialty procedures include cataract surgery, glaucoma treatment and eyelid surgery. Dr. Jones has extensive training in cataract removal and she continuously strives to provide her cataract patients with the safest, most pain-free recovery possible.
Over 1.4 million people have cataract surgery each year in the United States, and more than 95% of those surgeries are performed with no complications. During cataract surgery, which is usually performed under local or topical anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, the cloudy lens is removed from the eye.
As a rule, damage caused by glaucoma cannot be reversed. Eyedrops, laser surgery, and surgery in the operating room are used to lower eye pressure and help prevent further damage. In some cases, oral medications may also be prescribed. With any type of glaucoma, periodic examinations are very important to prevent vision loss.
Complete eye health includes having healthy eyes and healthy eyelids. Common eyelid problems include excess eyelid skin, droopy eyelids or eyelids that turn inward or outward. These problems can cause eye discomfort, limit vision, and affect appearance. Fortunately, they can be corrected with surgery.
