The year was 1972. Larry and Jean Daniel owned and operated an RV sales dealership in Richmond, VA. Despite their success, Larry dreamed of opening his own campground one day. Larry took advantage of an opportunity to turn his dream into reality when he found and purchased the perfect property in rural Powhatan County.
Jean wasn't so sure about Larry's plans but reluctantly supported him in his new adventure. Over the next two years, Larry and Jean spent their weekends along with their young son, Scott, in Powhatan building a camground. After more than twenty years of operation, Larry decided that it was time to grow, so in 1997 Phase II was underway.

Slightly below average campground. There really isn't anything that stands out to make this a must return to type of place. So overall it's just average. What makes it below average.....(1) the guy driving the utv around has no customer service skills. I would assume he is part of the family since it is family run. I would fire him on the spot for talking to customers the way he did, if he worked at one of my business. (2) they charge $5 per person for visitors to the campsite. Seems ridiculous but also makes the experience below average. (3) there is no wifi and no cell service so watching TV

Well I can tell you now don’t even bother wasting your time unless you have a super nice fancy camper! We were informed via email our 2004 very clean and in great shape camper was rejected by the manager “due to age and worn look of the camper” I guess you can only stay here if you are rich enough to own the best of the best camper. Such a shame a family gets rejected just because they aren’t wealthy enough to have something brand new.

Great campground! We have been several times. Always thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Love the sites with concrete patios, and the gazebos are a real treat! Fishing, riding golf carts, swimming in the pool, and just enjoying nature. Well maintained and very nicely thought out campground. Bathhouses are nice. Staff is helpful and nice also. We just keep coming back. 🤗

Our first time staying here. We did a long weekend (3 nights) and had a wonderful time. Caught lots of fish from the 2 free catch and release ponds but ironically didn’t have much luck at the paid for pond. Oh well that’s why they call it fishing and not catching. Pool was really nice and was refreshing in the hot afternoon sun, my daughter loved the big playground and all the other kids that were camping there. The staff was super nice and helpful and we will definitely stay there in the future.

Hands down, this is the literal best campground we've ever stayed at! The grounds are very well maintained, you can tell that the Daniel's family works hard and are very proud of their property. Everyone from the staff to the campers are incredibly kind, welcoming and wonderful. The pool is very clean and refreshing, the hidden trails are so cool and our dogs enjoy them as much as we do. We are looking forward to the Fourth of July festivities as well!
There are so many things to do, there really is fun to be had by all who stay here! Multiple fishing ponds, hiking trails, a playground, pool,
