I work near the Urbana store and so I've stopped in a few times to browse and I've bought a few accessories. Reading through the reviews, I thought it would be worthwhile to say that I've had nothing but great experiences with the staff (a few different members). I've chatted with them about bikes, learned some things, felt no pressure to buy something expensive. So, maybe they have new people in the store? I don't know, but maybe it's worth giving them another shot. I'm not hurting for a new bike soon, though I've been thinking about an upgrade. When

I would not be recommending this bicycle shop to anyone, and I will never go back. I bought a Bike from them about five months ago and I was told that I had free repairs and adjustments for a year… I had two spokes break and I went to get them replaced and my gears adjusted. I knew that I would have to more than likely pay for my parts but I also had to pay to true the wheel, which cost $35. So they just flat don’t live up to their agreement, Oh yeah and my bike has not shifted proper since.

Bought a bike here and the the staff were very helpful. Allowed me to test ride the same bike twice on two different days so I could make up my mind. They explained various aspects of different bike options. I visited the store several times and talked to a total of 3 sales people, all very helpful and patient. In the end I came away with a new bike that I am very happy with.

I just have been charged $81 for a service! They only adjusted breaks, brushed and general stuff. There was no replacement of anything! I used to recommend this place when my husband and I bought our bikes here 2 years ago. Now I will discourage people from going here: any bike shop charges $35 for the same service, and a car service is $40ish! I feel I was robbed and that they took advantage of the pandemic situation and sells are being low, so they just need to overcharge.

Purchased 3 bikes in 2019 for about $1300 total. One bike, a Specialized, has experienced multiple derailleur hanger breaks. Naturally, Durst Cycle's rep blames and charges the customer for the fix. Even though the defect is known and expected.
Something could be said for Specialized as well. I have a 20yo Hard Rock that doesn't have this issue.
Lastly, they like to charge a premium for things like kickstands, reflectors, etc. However, every bike we purchased had at least one of these components fall off within the first couple of rides.
Thanks Durst Cycle.

Durst is the Worst!
I'm excited that I will never, ever set foot in a Durst Cycle store again. Customer service, particularly as it relates to warranty of products they sell or workmanship of service they perform, is AWFUL. I have had the biggest runaround too many times. As other reviewers have said, this place has a terrible reputation. Learn from our mistakes.
Got a problem with something you purchased there? Don't expect to hear anything helpful over the phone. Jared the manager too often is 'with another customer, he'll call you back'. Does Jared call back

Worst customer service ever. I have never been to a place of business where every person is so rude until now. If you dont like your job, go find something else do for a living. There is a very negative vibe right when you walk in the door. They dont know how to smile and just be friendly. They screwed me with bike that was under warranty. I will drive a 100 plus miles to avoid buying anything else from this company.

I bought my 27-speed GIANT brand bicycle from Durst nearly 3 years ago in August, 2013. I have been extremely happy with the bike and also with the A+ service I have received from this company for these 3 years. The people at Durst have gone far out of the way to provide small tune-ups and one larger repair and tweaking of the bike after I had a crash at precious little cost to me, and always each time with same-day on the spot service. I am soon going to buy a second bike to add to the one I have and I wouldn't have any reason whatsoever not to come back to Durst. They are a great family.

As someone whose preferred method of transportation is biking, Durst was one of the first places I checked out when I decided to buy a bike. In the past, I had been someone who had purchased bikes from Wal-Mart or Target, but I wanted something nicer that would last longer.
After doing my due diligence researching bikes and prices I went to Durst during one of their 'Sidewalk Sales.' The staff member who helped me throughout the process was incredibly knowledge and answered each and every one of my numerous questions. He didn't lose patience after I had test rode my 8th bike since

I bought a expensive bike in the store few months ago and that was really a regretful deal. The stuffs there did not seem to be friendly to someone who walk into their shop and want to buy something. I feel stupid after experienced these and if you want to have a joyful experience in purchasing a bike, trust me, do not enter it.

After Ethan saw my review here, he sent me a very courteous email expressing his concerns. He stated that the MSRP on the 2013 Specialized bike I purchased was, indeed, $1,050. He further explained that because Durst Cycle was once burnt on a telephone credit card transaction, they no longer accept credit card payments exceeding $300 over the telephone.
He said he did not recall refusing my payment via PayPal. I'm not sure he refused it, per se, but when I mentioned using PayPal, he told me to mail a certified check. He apologized for the confusion and oversight and has now offered to refund

I came here once to buy a Camelbak, of which they had none, "because everyone just buys them on the Internet now ". Well yes, if you don't have any in your store, people will buy them on the Internet.
Then, I came here once at 5:45 PM before trying to go mountain biking and intending to buy some cycling gloves. They were closed. I don't know what kind of idiotic bike shop owner thinks they can just stay open until 5:30 and stay in business. Hey idiotic owner, a lot of your customers are going to be working people. If you ever expect them to shop at your store, you're going

I have bought a couple bikes here but that is mostly because Champaign Cycle was too far away and BIkeworks is never open when he says he will be, super run down and condescending. I went in to Durst to look at their used bikes. I wanted a women's cruiser. The only one they had was a huffy Panama Jack for $129 (used!). I checked online and it retails new for $149! I've also had trouble getting help when I go there, perhaps because I'm not wearing spandex even though I ride my bike more than 95% of the general population.

I heard that this was a Christian family run company. Turns out the son there is the biggest lying, cheating and thieving crook I've ever met.
The father seems nice and the staff are all fine, but the place is run by the son who is just an awful person.
I would avoid the store entirely just because of this man. He'll rob you blind and spit in your face.

Chalk one up for not having the sense to check out Yelp before spending my money. D'oh.
Long story short, these people are jerks. Charged near $200 to tune up my mountain bike and hey, what do you know, now I'm having even MORE problems with it!! And I know it isn't my riding habits, because I seriously doubt riding back and forth on paved roads to work every couple of days would make a bike suddenly unable to stay in gear, and the console creak loudly every time I pedal.
I should also mention that if you are told your bike will be ready 'tomorrow' that is Durst-speak

I've purchased at least 5 bikes over the last 10 years there. I just took a bike in I bought a year ago for the free check up. I missed the one year mark by 13 days. They said too bad and wanted to charge me $70. I bet I've spent at least $5000 on bikes there over my life in this town and they want to stick me for $70 on a technicality???
I'll never set foot in there again. The atmosphere in the store always has a negative vibe. No one is talking to each other, no enthusiasm. I had a friend of mine who worked there years ago. He said they are all about money and the Durst family

I've been here with a friend before to get his bike fixed, and he seemed to be very satisfied with the service. Then again, I'm not sure exactly how knowledgeable he is about bikes, because I'm certainly no pro.
I went here today to buy a bike lock, and they did my favorite thing: greeted me warmly, asked if I needed help, then left me alone. I was checked out by a dude that seemed like he was on downers. I asked if they would cut my old lock off my frame, and he said yes without hesitation. Once it was off, he informed me not to lose my keys again, because they'd charge
