Han Mi Martial Arts
Han Mi Martial Arts opened in Damascus in 2012, with the goal of using martial arts training to build strong bodies, sharp minds, and tenacious spirits. We use innovative methods to teach internationally-accepted martial arts programs, and that means our students learn more and stay motivated for the long-term!

We are Gracie Certified Training Center, teach Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Federation) Taekwondo, and are a member of the Southeastern US Kendo Federation. Matt Thompson has been passionately guiding students to excellence in martial arts since 1999. His qualifications include a 6th degree black belt in Taekwondo, a 4th degree black belt in Hapkido, and a blue belt in Gracie Jiu-jitsu.

I couldn't provide a better endorsement. This program isn't about violence, its about values, family, friends and learning how to stand up in a big scary world and say that you won't be bullied or be a witness to bullying. What a great place this is. The instructors are so patient. My little guy is learning how to follow instructions, be respectful, and the beginnings of self defense along with some self confidence in the Little Dragons class.

Can't say enough great things about Han Mi! They have been so patient with us regarding class schedules, COVID-19 and getting settled into a routine. My daughter has been in martial arts previously, and after a few year hiatus was excited to get back into the swing of things. We are all excited to be part of the Han Mi family.

I've been going to Han Mi for well over a year now, I started in the Kendo program but also just got my first stripe in Gracie Ju-Jitsu. Absolutely fantastic place to learn, comfortable environment, great instructors and staff, and their handling of classes (online) during the pandemic was well executed, especially considering that Kendo typically requires a partner! If you're looking for self-defense, to get fit, or just have fun learning something with purpose, Han Mi is the right place!
Also come join Kendo, we'd love to have more people!

What a great place this is. The instructors are so patient. My little guy is learning how to follow instructions, be respectful, and the beginnings of self defense along with some self condfidence in the Little Dragons class. They really seem to get the lost mentality that "it takes a village to raise a kid".

Heartfelt, understanding, caring and compassionate owner and instructors. On multiple levels, I appreciate the patience and guidance for my 7 year old son and the transparency with the companies purpose and goals is beautiful. Community and family is important to Matt, which I love. They are extremely talented at what they do and am grateful they are in our wonderful town!
