Whether caused by a house fire, scalding cooking fluid, or an insurgent's explosive device - burn injuries can have devastating consequences. Physical disfigurement and emotional scars make the recovery process a long and painful one. While the "outside" scars may require several complex surgeries, the "inside" scars are much more difficult to heal.

We believe that Burn Camps are the best way to support young burn survivors, as they learn to cope with their new lives. Our campers build self-confidence, make new friends, and forget about their scars while participating in ballgames, drum circles, surf lessons and unforgettable camp experiences.
Services
Burn Advocates Network is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. By relying on volunteers, interns and a small team of remote employees, we are able to keep overhead costs low. All of our operating costs are covered by private donors and sponsors, meaning that 100% percent of public donations fund our Burn Camps.
Camp SABABA, Israel's first Burn Camp, was founded in 2009 and operates in cooperation with Schneider Hospital for Children, Sheba Medical Center, and the Israel Burn Association. Camp takes place in Kfar Galim, a picturesque youth village set on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Israel, a diverse and multicultural country, was a natural home for Camp SABABA.
Camp Karma was founded in 2013, and takes place at the serene Rivergate Resort, outside the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. Despite the fact that there are over 1.5 million pediatric burn survivors in India, Camp Karma is the subcontinent's first and only Burn Camp. India possesses a unique social background with a blend of cultures and religions mixed with diverse socioeconomic levels.
This was a very exciting introduction because approximately 40 campers between the ages of 5 and 17 years met other burn survivors with the same issue-burn scars. The kids flourished during their duration in camp; they came at various levels of depression and isolation and left changed. They had renewed spirits and a sense of self-worth.
Performing around the campfire in front of 30 campers can be an unforgettable experience for any child. Learning to play an instrument can help repair an altered self-image by boosting self-confidence and promoting interaction with peers. Despite these positive effects, many burn survivors have never had the opportunity or resources to own a guitar or a drum set.
