Life feels out of control when you struggle with disordered eating, body image, or compulsive exercise. You live most of the day in your head, completely disconnected from your body and your heart. You're the harshest critic of the shape, size, or weight of your body. You never feel good enough, no matter how often you diet, workout, or change your clothes.
You may struggle with binge eating or purging, eating large amounts of food, followed by laxatives, vomiting, or exercise. This cycle traps you in shame and isolation. You're trapped by emotional eating. When faced with stress, anger, sadness - or even joy - you turn to food to soothe and distract.

I spent about 2 years or so doing regular sessions with Dr. Tancy, and I can’t say enough great things. I went in with multiple serious diagnoses, and where a lot of therapists would proceed with caution, she did not. She jumped right in with me, and together we worked hard. I most liked that she didn’t just tell me how to do things (coping skills, self soothing, meditation, etc.) rather, she showed me, and did these things with me. Additionally, no matter how I felt when I went into a session, I left feeling like I had all the tools I needed to better myself and my mental state. My time with

Trying to find a new therapist since I moved here and this one was disappointing. Tried to schedule an appointment for something rather soon and three phone calls and three weeks later I never heard back after waiting for someone to contact my insurance company first (never experienced this in the other 4 cities and 4 therapist I have dealt with over the years). If you're in a bad place and need to see someone soon I wouldn't recommend contacting this person. Thankfully I found someone who saw me withing a few days.
