Went for lunch at the Blue Heron. I choose the Reuben sandwich. It comes with chips or slaw on the side. The corned beef was tasty, thick sliced and fall apart tender. It has orange marmalade in addition to kraut, Swiss and russian dressing. The orange at first worried me but one bite and I knew I made a good choice. It was a delicious sandwich. Great service too.

Cute hometown style cafe in downtown that offered a good amount of seating for dining in if desired. That is a plus as they offer a larger menu for breakfast and lunch which includes soups and sandwiches.
We specifically visited for a sweet treat and the bakery didn’t disappoint. Great donut and cookie selection!
Just regular coffee though so don’t plan on any fancy lattes or cappuccinos here.

Holy smokes! This place is AMAZING! I’ve visited roughly 10 times, and every single time it exceeds my expectations. The staff are friendly and wonderful, and the food is AWESOME! I recommend the lunch flight, because you get a salad, half a sandwich, a cup of soup, and a cookie for an extremely reasonable price. If you’re on the fence about going, don’t be. It’s delicious and wonderful.

Was disappointed to see/ hear one of the employees, or perhaps a manager, unmasked. at a table near us, disparaging the reality of COVID-19, calling masks " stupid," and suggesting, " Even if you get really sick, just stay home for a few days, and it will go away." (We know two people hospitalized/ on vents right now with COVID, and others who were sick and quarantined for a long time. So, um, nope.) This had been our first attempt eating inside a restaurant since our governor reopened them; it was early morning. there were only two other occupied tables, plenty of space, waitperson

My wife and stopped in on our way home from vacation. We were looking for breakfast or brunch, so I got on good old Google to see what I could find.
What a great discovery!
I had the farmers omelet and my wife had the breakfast breakfast. Both were excellent.
They also have fresh baked goods, so we got some cookies, fritters and more to take home.
We'll definitely stop by the next time we're in the area!
Oh and "Hi" to Mary, our waitperson who turned out to be a Flint area native too! 🙂

Blue Heron is offering a sweet dinner deal while we are all sheltered in place. We got the lasagna meal which came with a salad, half a loaf of fresh bread, and cookies. The meal was supposedly for four but fed my family for dinner and lunch the next day! The lasagna was a very traditional lasagna. While yummy, I wished there was more ricotta. The salad and dressing were light and a perfect accompaniment to the heavy pasta. Overall, this was a classic comfort food meal without all of the work!

Take out meals from Blue Heron Cafe are available during this time of social distancing. The pot roast & lasagne meals we purchased this week
were excellent & a win/win to support one of our favorite restaurants & be able to have a great meal in our home. Please consider supporting Brian & Julie Williams too!

FUTURE BRIDES BEWARE!
I have been in conversation with their catering department for a few weeks in regards to catering cupcakes for my upcoming wedding. I had reached out and asked if it was possible to have the specific flavors along with the frosting design put into a sample box to try. I was told it was possible and I would be able to pick up my sample box on Friday August 9th. Since I live out of town (1 1/2 hours away) I called Thursday to confirm a sample box would indeed be there for me to pick up. As I made the 1 1/2 hour drive to pick up my sample box I was extremely disappointed. I

When a place does something right, they don't need a menu that is 4 pages. That is the quality of Blue Heron Cafe. First of all, they source much of their food from local farms. Win #1. I got the Dearborn ham sandwich. The homemade sourdough bread was grilled, the ham was cut from a ham ( not shavedvham) & it was grilled. Between the bread was herb flavored mayo and a cherry spread with spinach. Win #2. I ordered the lunch special which was a half sandwich, a salad that was lightly dressed in a deliciously sweet vinaigrette, and a cup of cheesy onion soup that was utter perfection for $11.95. Wins

My husband and I recently moved to MI from Idaho and one thing I have been yearning for was a maple bar! You'd think that with all the maple syrup made in the state there would be more maple frosted donuts! Well, finding the Blue Heron and maple frosted doughnuts at the same time made my day! They were delicious along with all the other wonderful bread etc! We will be back!

We checked Yelp for a place to eat while in Cadillac. We read great reviews and gave this place a shot. I tried the Michigan Salad and my husband had the heirloom turkey sandwich. Both were delicious! Friendly cafe with lots of healthy choices. We also bought a loaf of their homemade bread. Unfortunately, they were out of the soup when we visited around 1pm but we will try it next time. Overall, a good experience in Cadillac.

How many times the first place you visit becomes your favorite? Snuck in for lunch and got the Lunch Flight: ham sandwich, soup, salad and a cookie. Let's start with the ambiance, of they say "Where bakery meets cafe" and it is accurate. Amazing donuts, bread and bagels for sale. Higher Grounds coffee is served and they have breakfast all day. I really thought about the stuffed pepper: chorizo, eggs, etc. in a roasted red pepper (I saw another person with it and it looked amazing) but I really wanted lunch.
The Lamb Stew was excellent: thick and hearty. The sandwich was stellar

While traveling through Cadillac we decided to stop for breakfast, fortunately, we found The Blue Heron in downtown Cadillac. I ordered their special, steak and eggs with fried potatoes while my wife ordered french toast. One of the best breakfast we had, and Barb our waitress was so friendly, all in all, a great experience.

The best part about Cadillac! This place is such an adorable cafe. They have a reasonable lunch special daily (combo of soup, salad and sandwich!) and everything tastes very fresh. The baked good are top notch as well. I highly recommend the molasses cookie. The staff is very nice. I wish I were there for breakfast hours because I'm sure the breakfast is killer!

Update: Had a meeting with the Kitchen Manager and was surprised regarding what happened and will retrain the cook on portions. I am satisfied and will return.
Drove from Holland to have breakfast. Previously I would get about 4 to 5 ounces of ham. Today I barely got an ounce of ham. The wait staff was great but the cook is awful and wants to save money by reducing the amount served. I love this place and the ham is very good but they need to get a better cook who understands that customer happiness is important.

Little bake shop with incredible breakfast and pastries. Everyone here was very kind and accommodating. Really had a nice small town feel with huge flavor!
Came here for breakfast with a group of six. We were sat immediately. It's a pretty large menu for the size of the place. I had the breakfast burrito. So good. Very filling, yet light. Didn't care so much for the potatoes on the side, but others at the table enjoyed them.
I would absolutely suggest coming here for brunch if you're in the area.

One of these unexpected pleasures. I went in with low expectations and went out, saying I wish I had one more bite. And, not because I was hungry. Blue Heron is that good, that creative and that friendly. Blue Heron could make it anywhere.
I had the chorizo bowl. The chorizo was homemade and perfectly executed. The black beans were outstanding and the potatoes were fresh and buttery. It was a huge bowl, I was stuffed, but I pine'd for more. I was now addicted.
My buddy had the ham and eggs, yeah I know not real original, but I've never heard of Dearborn Ham, I could eat that ham off

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for a late lunch on Thursday 8/7/14 on our way to Thompsonville.
I liked their Nature Lovers Salad with grilled chicken- delicious!
I asked for a side of their sourdough bread- it was not good (extremely dry and tasteless)- perhaps it was an off day or maybe California is the only place to get good tasting sourdough.
My boyfriend liked his lunch flight - 1/2 sandwich (turkey), cup of soup (bean & bacon), Olive bread, small salad, & cookie for $10
Our server was a nice young lady- very personable.
