At E Green Recycling Management, our passion is to make the planet a cleaner and greener place. We believe that in an era of rapidly expanding technological machinery and capabilities, the amount of waste being produced is steadily reaching an all time high. That's why we have vowed to reduce electronic waste and make it easier for you to do so as well.
Growing rates of computers and equipment becoming obsolete and retired early is causing landfills to grow exponentially. Computers can contain materials that are extremely harmful to soil and water when they are left to rot in a landfill. A computer monitor could contain up to 8 pounds of lead. By recycling your computer, you can help to make our environment and planet a greener place.
E-Waste or Electronic Waste refers to any electronic device that has been discarded because it is obsolete, broken, or no longer useful. E-Waste often contains traces of hazardous material that prevents them from being disposed of by normal means. Proper precautions must be taken in order to process these products.
Among civilized countries, the United States produces the most waste per person and recycles the least trash by percentage. Landfills are quickly filling up with perfectly recyclable items that people just casually throw in the trash. New Yorkers in particular generate over 40,000 tons of waste per day.
In the age of rapidly expanding technological capabilities, most people jump at the chance to upgrade their electronic devices when given the chance. But what most of us don't think about is what happens to our old electronics and computers. Where do they go and why should we care?
Toxicity of your electronics: Computers contain both cadmium and mercury which can poison the soil, water (both for drinking and environmentally) and impair the nervous system if ingested.Mining prevention: When you throw out an old computer, you are not only throwing out a computer that could be donated to those less fortunate, but you are also throwing away gold, lead, iron, aluminum, silicon and plastic.
