Services
An appointment is needed to be seen. Please call us in advance so that time may be reserved for you. If you need to be seen on short notice and have not scheduled an appointment, please call our office to find out how we may accommodate you. Emergencies will be dealt with immediately. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, call us at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment to reschedule.
Also, be sure to complete the Phreesia pre-registration received via either text or email. This will be sent to you a few days before your appointment. Please arrive thirty minutes before your appointment so that we can review your information and create your chart. Bring a list of all of your medications and your insurance card(s) with you.

They fired all the great doctors that were working there. I will never ever attend this practice again. How could you do that to people who are making a difference in there patients at your practice. Oh not to mention after they fired my doctor they had the nerve to call me and try to get me to set up an appointment with one of the doctors they didn’t fire hahahahahahahaha the only reason I even came to james river was for one doctor and she changed my life. Thanks for nothing james river. I started referring people to y’all but since then I reached out to all of them and told them not to waste

I truly believe that the Dr is unmedicated bipolar. The Dr also talks to people with zero respect, uses unprofessional language around the office, AND FEELS THE NEED TO THREATEN PEOPLE CONSTANTLY! The office staff gossip about their patients, and will never return your phone call. With everywhere else you could go, avoid here.

I have been a patient at James River Family Practice for over 20 years.
Dr. Halverson and his staff and nurses are the best. When I have called the office because I am worried or anxious about something, their response is awesome. They did me in to the office right away. The critical care nurse always calls to check on me. When I see Dr. Halverson, I can feel that he cares. God Bless Dr. Halverson and his nurses and staff.

Deserves 0 stars. But the nurses were great, so I’ll give them 1. Dr halverson on the other hand. My only guess at the reason he’s a doctor is the money. Because he sure doesn’t like being a doctor and it shows.

- Wrongly Accused me of having a drinking problem simply because I gained weight and had marked that I occasionally drank.
- Gave me a prescription for the wrong medicine and dosage.

Terminated as a patient. I wish i could give these people negative stars.
If we go back a few years when Dr. Beavers was still at the practice, this place was great. But once they left the practice it's been a slow downward spiral every since. Me and my wife have been having issues with this office for almost two years. It's just one problem after another. First red flag came when my wife was in the hospital. She was taking a blood thinner and had an incident and ended up being admitted and was receiving a blood transfusion. We were told by the hematologist that she would need to stay there and
