Scams via text messages are nothing new, however we've been notified that scam attempts have been getting more aggressive over the last few weeks. Specifically, the scammers seem to be targeting Credit Unions.
The texts they're sending out request personal account information by telling consumers they need to call certain numbers to reactivate their debit or credit cards, or that their bank account balance is below a certain amount, or that their loan payment is due.Our team here at GROhio Credit Union has been told these scams are going out across multiple states and there is no way to tell for certain if our membership will be affected by the scam.

Our board voted several years ago to obtain a community charter to the Gorman Rupp Credit Union (GROhio) to anyone who works, lives, worships or goes to school in Richland County. As a result, the unanimously passed vote means no matter where you work in Richland County, where you live in Richland County, where you go to school in Richland County, or where you go to church in Richland County, you can be a member of our Credit Union.
Credit Union members using their GROhio Debit MasterCardTM in one of our ATM machines or any Alliance One ATM or Money Pass will NOT incur any charges or fees. NO service fees are charged when this card is used as a debit card (even if you use your PIN number). No more hassle, or time wasted in line at the bank.
